Re: O/T White trash recipes wanted
OK. 1 can of cream of chicken and 1 can of milk with a pot pie thawed out in the micro for 1 minute tossed in. When its done through in a couple pieces of white bread = a doberman that won't leave you alone!

Re: O/T White trash recipes wanted
Oodles of noodles and just about anything is cheap. Not sure about in your area, but frozen cooked shrimp is dirt cheap and a 3 lb. bag of 35-40 goes a long way. We make a quick scampi and a tasty sweet n sour with steamed rice and what ever veggies we have in the fridge that costs under a couple bucks for a meal for 4. My 12 year old cooked a mean scampi for us tonight. I love it, but Cornflake chicken is a running joke in our family. It's one of the only things my sister in law makes and somehow she slaughters it every time. It's friggin awesome when my wife makes it.

Re: Volksrodder Meals - real recipes for cutters, welders, and drivers
How about a quick and easy dessert/ snack?
Take a Klondike bar (any flavor, I use original) and throw it in a bowl. Break it up, spoon in some peanut butter and stir it up, add some whipped cream and top it with chocolate syrup.
Of course, I'm not allowed to have such things anymore.

Ballin' on a Budget; cheap grub when building your ride!
here's a dirt cheap and idiot proof dessert dish
throw all this shit in equal amounts into a glass dish.
Cool-Whip (bowl, not spray)
Tapioca Pudding (again, easier when found in big portions)
Pineapple Chunks ( in the can, dont go climbing trees for it)
Lemon Jello (shit, so you might have to actually MAKE this one. just 1 box does it)
mix it all together and toss in the fridge. it will be GONE in no time, and it is actually rather filling without looking at your woman asking if she shrunk your fave jeans!!

Well, just finished one of the most absurd "meals" I've ever eaten in my life. Tattooed_pariah, you truly have some funky taste buds my brother! If and when I get that feeling to eat something strange, the ramen/pb sandwich will be at the top of the list.
Oh, just to let you know, it really wasn't all that bad!
|
OK here's a old family tradition; peanut butter & mayo sandwich, washed down with milk shaken up inside an empty grape jelly jar. makes a grape shake! not too bad either

I once heard about a cookbook, but never found a copy. it was "college bachelor recipes" or something. basically a bunch of shit you could cook in your dorm using a coffee maker and misc other small appliances..

Re: Volksrodder Meals - real recipes for cutters, welders, and drivers
Chicked Rotel Spaghetti made with cheap stuff from ALDI. Feeds a couple of grown men for a couple bucks each.
One 10oz can of chicken breast (or you can cook up your own)
About 1/4 loaf of their Velveeta cheese product
one can of Tomatoes and chiles (or rotel)
some noodles, any kind of noodles
a little bit of butter and a little bit of milk
Start boilng some water for the noodles
In another pot put a little bit (1/4 cup maybe) of milk and butter and heat on low to medium
add the can of tomatoes and chiles (rotel) and squares of cheese and melt it all together
Add 10 oz can of chicken breast (more if you want to)
Cook the noodles and mix it all up.
I find it better if the rotel cheeze chicken stuff isn't too thick. Thin with milk unti lthe consistency is what you like.
Super simple and pretty cheap to make. You can even use a can of ready made cheese chip dip instead of making your own.

Re: Volksrodder Meals - real recipes for cutters, welders, and drivers
My girlfriend made this the other night.
1 Can of chili
Chili cheese Fritos
Taco Bell tacoe sauce
Grated cheddar cheese.
Heat up the chili in a bowl, stir in a handful of crunched up fritos, layer on a mountain of cheese and douse with taco sauce. It has to be the Taco Bell brand sauce. Takes 5 minutes to make and is damn good.
tattooed_pariah, I suggest you give this a shot.

Just made this for dinner with my girl. As I was making it she kept making comments about how she can't wait until all her household goods get here (she's also Navy and just moved out here) so she can make me real food.
But after eating she says if we ever wind up with no money and like 50 kids, she'll put me in charge of cooking. :D haha, I count that as a WIN :P

I just made 1/2 lb of shrimp in a little bit of olive oil, simmered with green onion, taco seasoning, 3 diced habeneros, and half a lime. In flour tortillas with some jack cheese and a bottle of wine, that's my gourmet mexican dinner. for one, of course.

Re: Volksrodder Meals - real recipes for cutters, welders, and drivers
another good one is shrimp sauteed in a little oil, green onions, and half a clove of minced garlic.
take a precooked pizza crust, cover it in alfredo sauce, the shrimp, mozzarella cheese, and any other toppings (I like to do sliced tomato and more green onions on the top). cook until desired crispiness.

Re: Volksrodder Meals - real recipes for cutters, welders, and drivers
SUPERQUICK SANDWICH
1. Open up a whole wheat hoagy roll (or even a hot dog bun in a pinch), and slather both of the insides with your favorite peanut butter.
2. Lay in a couple of whole dill pickles (end to end, as needed to match the length of the bun).
3. Slam the sides together and bite into . . .

It was:
EarthGrains 100% whole grain flat bun (mmm)
honey-glazed spiral ham
cheddar cheese sliced
French's Spicy Brown mustard
tomato
spinach leaves (yet I hate spinach)
dill pickle
Beano original Submarine Sauce (must have!!)
served with a chilled glass of root beer

Re: Volksrodder Meals - real recipes for cutters, welders, and drivers
My lunches consist of whatever was for dinner the night before. Like today it was spaghetti sandwiches:
2 slices of buttered wheat bread(or your favorite)
lettuce
cold spaghetti
mash together and eat
you can add cheese if you like
you have a meal, salad and bread all in one

Re: Volksrodder Meals - real recipes for cutters, welders, and drivers
Heard this on the radio yesterday...
2 slices of bread, buttered on one side each.
2 peanut butter cups sliced down the center so you end up with 2 tops and 2 bottoms.
Place the peanut butter cups inside the bread with butter side out and place in a frying pan.
Cook just like you would a grilled cheese.

Re: Volksrodder Meals - real recipes for cutters, welders, and drivers
Brauts are yummy
Simmer eight brauts in a frying pan of water, just enough to partially cook them (parbroil).
Use a baking dish (we have an 11"x14" pyrex), be sure to grease the pan. I use Crisco, just take a wax sandwich bag, put it over your hand, get some Crisco and wipe the dish with a complete thin layer.
Wash and section some red potatoes into chunks until pan has a full layer across the bottom.
Take a jar of saurkraut, rinse and strain through a flour sack towel (or cheesecloth or super finer strainer, whatever). Thoroughly drain, add evenly over the potatoes in baking dish.
Remove the brauts from the pan they were parboiled in, chop into roughly into one to one and a half inch chunks, toss in pan.
Bake the whole mess at 350 degrees or so until potatoes are soft under a fork (stab the potato: if the fork goes in easily, she's done!).
For a little spice, find some chili/oregano brauts-Safeway sells them here...yummy!

Re: Volksrodder Meals - real recipes for cutters, welders, and drivers
Super simple pasta salad:
1 or 2 boxes farafel pasta (the little bowties )
Some boneless, skinless chicken breast. You could also use Canned chunked chicken breast if you were in a hurry.
1 jar Italian dressing
Some cilantro to taste. Take the cilantro from the bunch, separate it, then use your fingers to pull the leafs from the stems. It is pretty important to get rid of the stems...they suck! With some practice you can pop the leaves off whole at the base of their stem. You don't have to be perfect here, just try not to add the bigger stems, they're woody and don't have the same flavor as the leaves.
Just a tip: when picking cilantro, first make sure that none of the leaves are black and slimy. A little is not unusual in a bunch, you can remove them, but try to find a bunch that is fresh. Take one of the leaves and rub it between two fingers and smell the leaf. The stronger the cilantro smells, the fresher it is. Also, some stores have been known to substitute Chinese parsley or even plain parsley on the unsuspecting!
Cook the pasta (to make your pasta turn out great, add some olive oil and sea salt, wait to add pasta until at full boil, set timer for 7 minutes, taste a piece. You do not want your pasta to be completely soft. When you try the piece, feel it with your mouth to make sure it is not CRUNCHY. If not, the pasta is done, even if it feels a little firm yet. If you're unsure, let it cook a little longer, but the more al dente it is, the better it retains it's flavor and texture),
-------------
Cook the chicken,
-------------
Coarsely chop the cilantro,
-------------
Mix everything with the dressing in a large bowl.
-------------
You can eat it right then, but if you chill it in the fridge for a couple of hours it really comes out much tastier. Throw a couple steaks on the grill, break out a sud, and enjoy!
