I was thinking mount the scoop on springs, then attach a 12 volt gear motor,
and hang an eccentric weight off the motor like they do on Pager motors.

So the hood scoop could shake, even when the motor isn't running.

While I am trying to make the Sled look like something it isn't, everything I am doing is for both function as well as aesthetics. I don't want to "fake" anything.

Well....spent another few hours this evening with the Sled. Get some more pieces of the air intake ducting fabricated.

Made one piece and then cut it on a diagonal to end up with two symmetric pieces. Worked pretty good.

Next step is to make the pieces that connect these two with the main duct/tray.

Little bit at a time.

OK, here is the progress I made on my "sick" day yesterday.

I modified the other fenderskirt to get it ready for grafting into the RH fender.

I also did some more work on the air ducts.

Not the most exciting stuff, but it all needs to get done.

Managed to spend a little time with the sled this week....a very little time. But I did manage to get the other rear fender extended the extra 6 inches by grafting on the front edge of the donor fender. Also did some grinding on some of my other welds.

Sorry no pictures yet.

Hoping to spend some more time in the next week if my kids go down to their Mom's for Thanksgiving.

Not really. I did manage to get my Squareback, Sophy, over to her new garage home and my 69 Square out of the garage. As soon as I can get home before dark (no working headlights) and get it over to the garage, I will bring the Sled into my current garage and shoudl be able to work on it some this winter with a space heater.

I did make a serious score for the Sled this weekend. I always pictured the interior in red vinyl, but a friend that works for Eagle Ottawa Leather made me a killer deal on these....

4 dark grey and 1 light grey full leather hides for....

$55 each!

So the Sled will be getting a two-tone grey leather interior at some point in the future.

Now I need to revisit the concepts for the exterior color.

Nothing too major tonight, but I actually touch the Sled tonight. I moved a few things around and actually manage to get her in the garage.

Doesn't look like it in the photo, but there is actually some room to work in there. I also got my kerosene heater working so I might be able to do some this winter in reasonable comfort.

Been lurking about here for some time, and I have finally felt a need to say something...
Top effort John... I'm really digging this car.... Customs aren't generally my thing, but what you are doing here is really working for me.... The choice of base car is bang on, the mixing of components is both opportune and crystal and the outcome is looking sweet....

I only have one suggestion... You need to fit a narrowed LP bug beam into that car, to get it sitting perfectly and still be able to drive.... Slammed TIII beams are killers when they are set as low as this puppy needs to be....

Thanks for the compliments. It is a fun project....one that I need to get back to as soon as the weather is a little more bearable. (and yes it has been 50+F the last two days...just too many other things on my plate right now.)

As for the front end....I am not a big fan of the narrowed beam look and don't like the idea of a less-strong/stiff Type 1 beam on a Type 3. I do plan to run an airbag system on both the front and rear so I will be able to drop it right down low for cruising low and slow and then be able to get it back up to a reasonable height for bombing down the road.

Hey! Anyone remember this car?

It was near 40F today with bright sunshine and little or no wind, so I put my longjohns and flannel shirt on and went out and did a little and !

Started getting the RH rear fender mods underway. I filled in the louver intake area and started filling in the old wheel opening and got the Buick Electra skirt tacked in.

Still need to finish the wheel opening filler, make and graft in the new bodyline in front of the wheel opening and need to build up the inside of the extended rear fender/fin....

...but it sure felt good to be out making sparks again.
