Re: Found this cool gem at the local show
that's been ruined in such a huge way that i really hope it's not a '49. from those pics it's impossible to tell.

Re: Found this cool gem at the local show
Nope, 58-later. I'd say late sixties to mid seventies. Look at the corner of the rear window through the quarter window.
Oval and split windows don't have corners!
It really looks like he did away with the beltline "hump" as well. The side of the car just looks smoothed out.
High windshield top. Narrow b pillars as well. definate late car.
huh, different.

Re: Found this cool gem at the local show
I'd have to say they registered it after the model it was built to look like (49 Ford?). I know Ct. now allows you to do that.
I'm not big on those style front ends but if it was a differant color or was given to me, I'd roll it.

Indeed it is but I'll be honest by saying that I wouldn't mind burning off the rear tires in the parking lot. After that, I'd light it on fire.

Re: Found this cool gem at the local show
Looks like one of those chopped bodies they used to sell (v-rod?). Offered as a V8 front or VW rear layout. All had no drip rails. The nose is another story.

Re: Found this cool gem at the local show
not to my taste either but kudo's to the builder for realizing his vision. Painted flat with diff rims and I'd happily roll it till I found a buyer.

Wow I didn't expect these types of responses. Kinda funny. I dig it personally but to each his own.
Hotrodheb, I didn't have my camera with me I took those with my phone. If that T-bird is there next month I'll get a bunch of shots of it for you.

Re: Found this cool gem at the local show
damn guys. it's starting to sound like the samba in here. personally i like most everything about the car. except the paing and wheels. but hey if that's what the dude want's then he built it to his tastes. me i don't think i would have gone with a slant chop-throws the lines off. painted flat with some cosmetice rust and a set of baby moons on steelies and that car would be the tits.

Re: Found this cool gem at the local show
I think the owner might not like it all that much now. I've seen it for sale a couple of times over the past year. Might even be on ebay right now.

hey, just because it's a vw doesn't mean anyone here needs to like it. it's an ugly car, painted in an ugly color. nobody made any judgements on the builders character. just that he built (or payed for ) an ugly car. hell, it's the internet and we all internet gangstas. don't bring that shit in here!!
