So it begins Ilsa under the knife... er sawzall
Well This the discussion thread for "Ilsa the Volksrod" build. I would like to start by saying I have gotten a lot of inspiration from the cars here. So far I've dome some things that have to be redone (beam extender, gowith drop spindles rather than lowered suspension) But there has to be a learning curve with all things. Hopefully when I chop Ilsa in a couple of years I will be ready and armed with the expirence and wisdom of my fellow Volksrodders.
Some pics. Fat chick 1 Ilsa. Fat chick 2 no name yet. This car was bought for parts ( transmission, pans, 1 pop out , etc..) The plans for the second car are , front engine 32v Northstar (currently there are two sitting in my shop) with independant front and rear based loosly on Alpineters (I probably spelled that wrong) F-1 inspired vw.

Re: A Threesom With Two Fat Chicks
I also picked up a spare roof panel with the second car. It is small back glass and i dont know if i can use it. It will depend on many things What kind of chop i do, if I can find an oval or split clip.

Re: A Threesom With Two Fat Chicks
Ok so it starts. Not much has happendd laitly. I picked up dual bug sprays. I made a trade for a better body than the white car. So the white car is going to be the donor for the chop on Ilsa. I hope to start this week end on the chop. My mane inspiration is the Section 8 car that Chris Clark built. My rag top will be similer as well. Unfortunatly I have yet to find a donor rear clip (Oval or Split) so I will be using the clip out of the white car (better shape) and going with a split oval insert from glassaction. I know this is some thing you guys usualy frown apon but its the choice I'm curently left with. Here are some pics of what i did today.

I thought if you had to roll them in flour and look for a wet spot, they were fat chicks.

Re: A Threesom With Two Fat Chicks
I realy do need to change the title. It was actuly an inside joke. When I picked up the second car I stoped by to see my wife at work, on my way home. One of the girls asked what I was going to do with the car and i said I'm going to find my sawzal and have a threesom with two fat chicks. the wife thought it was funny everyone else droped there jaw.

Re: A Threesom With Two Fat Chicks
Oh and with me the fat chick thing isnt a snob thing. Even tho i have only driven the car acouple of miles I am the most impressed by this car of any car i have ever driven. Some people like fat chicks, there are all kinds of pages dedicated to the loving, well i dont know if I'd call that loving, of them.

Good to see you braced it properly....if I could turn back time I would have added that bracing to mine.
Looking good.

I Hate that you had problems with yours. The cool thing however is that if one of us makes a mistake and posts it we all learn from it.

Re: A Threesom With Two Fat Chicks
I wouldn't start cutting too much for the interior alignmemts yet. The door frames will need to be leaned in just a little to match the new curvature of the B pillar. I was tempted to start the interior aligmemt earlier too but quickly realized that if I had to go back and adjust something then all those alignment tweaks would have to be redone as well. Just a suggestion.

Re: A Threesom With Two Fat Chicks
Progress is slow and i had to split the back glass area to get the panels to line up. I have to move the right side some to get things lined up. Here are a few pics including one of the emblem I would like to use on the hood. Its Detroit Iron a gas cap lid trim from a 64 Crown Imperial.
