Re: The Roach
Case studs are out. Next... clean again and reinstall the case savers that came out with the studes. New CBPerformance mil-spec studs go in!

Re: The Roach
I think there’s a five gallon of ‘patina‘ somewhere around here. Want me to see what UPS would charge to ship it?

Re: The Roach
Long overdue modification today.
Since the speedster's beginning, the large engine cover has been held on by bolts. This made removal for servicing slow and replacemenf slow. It worked well, but was annoying. Fast forward 25 years or so and now it is held by hood pins. 30 seconds to remove! The sad part is... I have had a set of hood pins hanging on a hook for more than a decade. Doh!

Re: The Roach
Well, I bought some used fiberglass notch fenders to sort the twisted up/torn metal issues I have on the original rear fenders. They finally arrived and someone had cut them to fit to a fasty/square. So, plan B!
Start pounding on metal!!! There was a significant push on the RR between the light base and trunk lid. It was twisted, bent opposite the correct curve and basically a complete mess. When I started this a couple hours ago, the inside edge if the lamp base was 3/8" to 1/2" away from the metal. Now, the complex lower curve is all I still have to move. Woot!

Any suggestions on how to close the remaining gap wpuld be awesome! I am a complete novice with my hammer and 2 dollies.

Re: The Roach
This thing must have been hit hard. Between the push and the big dent in the trunk lid... oh boy.

Re: The Roach
Rear body wiring in, less license light
The right rear lamp housing isn't a perect fit, but compared to before I beat on the fender, it is awesome.

Re: The Roach
I started fitting the flush mount rear window tonight, but I need to buy a new drill bit. Only the center upper and lower holes are drilled so far.

Yeah, great to see your progress. I love the ‘stance and those very cool wheels. Nice work at the rear fender.

Re: The Roach
I’m not familiar with a ‘poly’ rear window. Do they install like a ‘stock one?

Re: The Roach
Nope, I will get some stock, shiny bumpers and trims to contrast the paint.

Re: The Roach
I was having tire rub issues backing the red car up. Thought it was both sides...come to find out, the right side was almost 1.5" inboard! This is the same side that I had to reshape the rear fender around the light. Just got it all squarish again. No more rub!
I am very glad I happened to start on that side. Also, that car had negative camber and was rubbing. I raised the rear about an inch to lesson this a bit and still no rub. It was a good day!

Re: The Roach
Well, after a major step back from damage on one of the heads, I am finally moving forward again.
Last night, the case savers, mil spec headstuds, pistons, barrels, heads, exhaust and manifolds were all installed. I like where it is. Now to tear it all back down and clean evreything again! But, it will work! The fk-8 cam, the Comp Eliminator heads, the 11.7:1 compression, the 1.5 rockers, the dry sump, the 1 3/4 header... all happy sharing the same space!
The only new parts on this engine are the bearings and the oil pump. And, the intake manifolds if I keep it n/a for a time.
