Thank you guys for all your well wishes and B.S. life wouldn't be the same without you all in it.

Re: The "Today f*cking sucks club" thread
Life sucks, Had the third surgery on my back a week and half ago and thought that was going to do. Well six days later im in pain again. So I go back to him this next friday and see if there is anything else they can do. The whole thing that sucks is that I havent done hardly anything to my car since I got hurt, changed out the shifter and templated the windshield for cutting. I walk out in the garage and look at it and feel the pain in my back and walk back into the house. I dont think im ever going to get it done.

Re: The "Today f*cking sucks club" thread
Mojo to both of ya's, pain always seems to happen at the worst possible time, & then there's always working, that's probably the one thing I don't hafta do, but I'd much rather have the $ from a job than what I get from disability, but I do get paid no matter what, as long as I'm alive
Anymore pain is like breathing, after years of it, it's there & I can't control it, altho, every morning when I open my eyes, then begin getting up, I realize it's another Great day, I'm still alive, if I wake up & feel no pain, it means I'm in Heaven

Re: The "Today f*cking sucks club" thread
My day off, supposed to be out and about, getting several things done. Came home from work yesterday afternoon feeling...ugh...... Had to go teach that night. Got through the class but came home and have been feeling sick since. Got 2 classes tomorrow and then off again until Monday night. Hopefully better by then.

Re: The "Today f*cking sucks club" thread
My tinnitus has been really bad for the last few days. (back in April of '71, our OP took a 'short' mortar round which landed about thirty feet from where I had flattened out on a bunker roof. I got a small nick and a serious bell ringing.) I was told at one point that the constant slight ringing I had would likely get worse when I got older. Well, I'm older and it's worse...I hate it when they're right. I've been wearing custom made ear plugs for years, but last Friday a bunch of barking dogs at the shop amped up the ringing. This was with the plugs and set of Winchester headphones picked up at a gun shop. That Friday afternoon, a very nice nurse at the VA told me that there are no meds that work; suggested meds to help me sleep, music to mask the sound, and said she was 'sorry.'
I'm heading over to one of the local health food stores to check out their shelves.
Anyone have suggestions for something I can take for the ringing?
Call me, Desperately Seeking Silence (or a least a softer ring tone).

I have it really bad too. I have similiar stories for the cause. The only thing that helps me is I always have music going.
Everyone makes fun of me for putting a stereo in the garage...and bathroom....and back porch....yeah, I have one in every room.
I don't play it loud, but there has to be constant background music becauses the incessant HUM is at a TONE that drives me crazy.
I have a stereo at work too for the same reason.
I find the more tired I am , the louder it gets. Wind aggrevates it so I constantly wear a beanie or bandana and my long hair helps quite a bit! LOL!
Vibrations also aggravate it. I wear ear protection (plugs underneath muffs) but after working with poer tools, or riding in a car on washboard roads.......my inner ear is all abuzz for a few hours.
Sorry Kim, definitely sucks!

Similar problem, similar cause- B52 guys overshot the target zone- but much milder for me. Usually when I'm really tired or in a really loud area. I try to avoid the loud areas, and keep the music going at other times, mostly Classical and soft Instrumental seems to work best to cancel out the noise.

Re: The "Today f*cking sucks club" thread
I have a ringing in my head as well, it's not as bad as it sounds like you all have it, but it makes it tough to hear, mine is caused by the med's I take daily, without the med's I wouldn't last that long & end up rejecting my transplanted kidney & pancreas
Back round noise is the worst, I need to be in a silent room in order to talk on the phone, otherwise I can't make out what's being said, I'm always saying "huh" or "whad ya say?"
But it's life, I just deal with it the best I can, music helps, but I always end up singing along to what ever song is playing inserting my own words, my neighbor's probably think I'm loosing it, ot just crazy because I sing out loud, & when I say out loud, I mean loud
That's life, I just deal with it as best I can

Re: The "Today f*cking sucks club" thread
well my ringing is supposedly caused more by all the asprin over the years for the raynaud's and arthritis, loud motors all day etc, etc.. dont really care what caused it anymore, cant even remember a time without it. Now what I have discovered over the last 20 years of it is this;
1. there is no cure!
2. according to several doctors even after I'm totally deaf I'll more than likely still have the ringing!
3. too much asprin can cause the ringing, but usually only 1 in 5 bottles says so on the packaging, others mention it on a sheet inside?!
4. aspring can make it louder and softer very weird havent came up with a system on that yet but am working on it.
5. if the ringing is loud dont try to drown it out with louder music or anything as it will only get louder! I've had it so loud I cant sleep and put my phone under my pillow with music on not to loud, using the pillow as a speaker ( strange how it works but it does) with the tunes just loud enough to barely take the edge off the ringing I can sleep and the ringing softens down a bit.
6. If you get into a completely quiet area and basicly meditate on the ringing you can controll it just a bit might be able to do more with more practice but I havent been practicing. I have noticed that sitting out side on a quiet day with a minimal breeze I can can focus on individual sounds and make them louder than the ringing. Sounds odd I'm sure but after all the years of BS with the doc's and the bio feedback crap they tried to teach me to control the raynauds, I discovered that the character meditation excersizes from my theatre days worked the same way and was easier to use. Now I just apply it to the tinitus!
and on a side note hearing aids dont really help it much, but can make it go louder..
