Re: Getting back to the track...
Safely down the track. Results were meh... too much pressure in the slicks on first guess resulted in horrible tire spin. But, nothing broke!

Re: Getting back to the track...
My second pass was funny. I dropped the tire pressure and launched at the same rpm. I missed 2nd gear, found 4th and just puttered through. 13.49 @ 43 mph. Here is the funny. Last year, the bone stock squareback, with perfect shifts ran a best of 14.22 @ 42 mph. So, I was still faster than last year!

Was there a third pass? Sounds like fun any way you look at it.

Re: Getting back to the track...
No. There was an official NHRA event before is, they were soooo late that we started 2 hours late. I could stay longer or for eliminations today. So... two was it.

Re: Getting back to the track...
Well that gives up all to look forward to!
The oil cooler install on my sidecar rig got pushed back a bit as I’m also building a seat for the rig complete with a folding back. But I’m keeping busy on it and it’s fun.

Re: Getting back to the track...
Sorry to hear about 2nd gear. One thing I learned about hot rods and hot VWs, and motorcycles, is that there is always ‘something.’ If there’s not ‘something,’ it’s because you’re not paying attention.

Re: Getting back to the track...
I know a couple good East coast guys. PEP(Mike G) in NC did my trans. 6.80's 1575#, 1.38 60 ft and I ran it over 17 years with a 3 puck Berg disc and 2500# PP M/T 8x25 slicks. Also Tony in North Ga builds nice transaxles.

Re: Getting back to the track...
This Saturday is it. If the rain comes, it is still it. The last race for the car. After that, back to a street only car for the pink notch. I'm sad, and happy. I'm looking forward to the next version of the car though...

Re: Getting back to the track...
I beg to differ, you’d be done with that project and then start another. With most of us on this site, ‘the project’ never ends.

Re: Getting back to the track...
I have a spare body in Jersey and a chassis here in MD. I want to do a lightweight chopped drag bug.

Lighter is easier to go faster with and easier on transmissions

A saying around hot rodding circles when as teenager I built my Nailhead powered Ford coupe was “Light makes it right.”
