Default Never thought I'd hear my partner say this..

So I was talking about converting my baja bug to a street only VR but my other half said "Don't do that, its fun to take ocho (the bug) off road, its cheaper then a jeep!"

So I'm kinda at a shock and unsure on what to do lol I am guessing I'm going to build some sorta bastard baja and VR offspring now

Ok....This is what you do now. The sooner the better.

Take her to a hypnotist and have them convince her that she needs another VW.

:)

So is it a situation of "my baja" or is it "our baja"?

If it's a "my baja"... I'd be building whatever it is that I wanted and then let her borrow your tools so she can build herself the car she wants.

But that's just me.

It shouldn't matter if it's mine or ours! She can ride in it, or stay at home! She doesn't want to get her hands dirty, or hang out in the garage. That makes it my decision!

Does that really make me a male chauvinist?

The VR goes in the garage....the baja goes behind the garage cuz its more rugged to the elements and sorta out of sight out of mind, until you go ocho.

Just made a compromise with my girlfriend on the tools subject.. When we move in together we're gonna have a bunch of doubles in our DVD collection cause we have a lot of similiar stuff, so she brought up to avoid having doubles in the garage, I'll buy tools, and she'll use the money she would normally use on tools to buy lingerie

and yea, she does actually have tools, she's kinda like Kaylee in Firefly, very much a woman, but not anywhere near afraid of getting dirty working on a car or building something

She's going to invest in lingerie? I have to say that I really respect her priorities, and certainly hope that this will involve pictures.

hahaha, MAYBE pictures :P she doesn't like a lot of jewelry, isn't really materialistic, but like lingerie, who the hell am I to argue?

just found out another bonus tonight... we were talking on the phone, something about one of her old cars, and somehow the topic of lights came up, so I jokingly mentioned that I don't use the turn signals in my bug because hitting either direction turns on the four ways, and stepping on my brakes causes the front turns to light up, and currently i have no dash lights because of a fuse-blowing short somewhere...

She got all excited at the prospect of figuring out an electrical problem, says they're like logic puzzles and she loves working out puzzles :P

yeha, i'm definitely gonna try an keep this one

So far its still our baja, I think I might have come up with a solution though. I had been considering airbags for offroad, which would allow me to drop it low at will.

Nope--Won't work
the wheel alignment changes with ride height.
Eachtime you raise or lower it you will have to get a wheel alignment done.

Don't discuss that shit next time, just do it and fight later. then when the fights over you'll still have it.

Can't do this all the time but it will work once.

Been there, done that, have a back yard of cars to prove it. but beginning to wonder if the last couple of fights were worth it. I kinda pushed the envelope a little far the last time ;)

I thought marriage was a compromise.
A compromise is suppose to be 50 - 50.
Seems that there are 2 options here.

Do you drink and run the bars every night?

OR

Do you stay at home, and work on your cars?

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it!

My girl is very cool about my automotive lifestyle. She even wants to get involved eventually but only in an artistic sense. Plus she loves people and going to fun events. She always liked cars just never had any really cool ones..... she's learning and gives me encouragment to be me, never have to put up a front or try and be something other than myself. Ahhhhh freedom.

Hell yes dt. I've been spending some time with a fine a group of volksrodders over here in northern Florida. Everyone met so far has been good people and I appreciate them. I'll be there for them just like they have for me. All they gotta do is ask.
