Default hippie3VW's auto-stick volksrod project

ok so heres my intro/project start only took 3 years
im a self taught mechanic working general maintanace on a wheat farm, ive loved bugs since i was 15 when i got my first 69 baja, ive aquired a couple of buggies since and also my 70 autostick. she was my daily driver for several years with no complaints then some asshole decided to turn directly in front of me causing me to T-bone him and total my beloved bug. so thats what brought me to the idea of rebuilding and rodding it i live in oregon so the law says that if its either 40 years old or built as a streetrod it isnt required to have fenders pics and build to follow.

ok so went out today and did some more work and got some progress pics. when it was in the accident it crumpled the bumper, front fenders, hood, and the entire trunk area including the fender mounts and quarter panels.
so ive removed the fenders and hood and began to start cutting the front end off all the way to the firewall leaving only the hood protruding. ive decided on a 12 inch stretch and contrary to everyones advice on here im constructing it out of a second center tube i have laying around. i plan on on gusseting and supporting the heck out of it. im also planning on running stabilizer bars and body supports between the tube head and the firewall. heres what i got so far

i had the idea of moving the fuel tank, atf tank and the vaccum reserve canister for the pneumatic clutch all into the package area behind the rear seat. im also gonna relocate the fuel filler assembly that i cut off to right behind the drivers side rear window.

any ideas?

hey guys got some more work done. i was thinking since the idea of a volksrod is a non-mainstream budget hotrod, why not be different from everyone who is doing 8,10, or 12 inch beam extentions im going for a radical 14 inch stretchoh yeah did i mention i had never welded before yesterday

I added some more bracing and then attached a bent beam i had laying around to get an idea of the stretch
