Default Car movies

Ok it's cold and icy here and i was looking at the "gone.." thread. So I thought how about a car movie thread. List your favorite car movies.

I will start it off with an old one

Thunder Road with Robert Mitchum and Keely Smith also Rober's son James as his litle brother. Keely was horible should have stayed with Prima. But all in all a good movie

While not really a car movie. It is responsible for me to not be able to walk past a 49 Ford.

I give it three out of five

I always liked Roadhouse 66.

Kind of old and really dated, but good none the less.

They are very cheesy but guilty pleasures, The Wraith (starring Charlie Sheen) and the Last Chase(?) (starring Lee Majors).

Although mentioned already, my all time favorite is American Grafitti. I have Paul LaMatte's autograph I on a photo of the 32' I got at a car show. I liked his character as an all around good guy in the movie. This was the first movie I saw as a kid without being accompanied by my parents.

Two Lane Blacktop is cool for hot rods and the 55' that James Taylor drove in it was painted and used as "Bob Falfa's" car in American Grafitti.

Now to keep the connection going, THX1138 was a weird movie but had those really cool cars near the end and George Lukas used the Movie Title for the liscense plate for the 32 in American Grafitti.

The Wraith is about this mysterious street racer that comes in to town to exact vengeance on evil streetracers. A Dodge PPG Concept car challenges lesser drivers/cars to races and pushes them beyond the limits.

The Last Chase is about an ex-racer who takes his car out on one last blast in an America that has outlawed internal combustion and the freedom he used to enjoy. Burgess Meredith as a dinosaur fighter pilot chases Major's can-am across the US in an F-86 Saber.

I suggest IMDB to check up on any of these movies.

Btw, here up north, we'll probably use news footage of you Texans driving in ice as our evening entertainment. ;)

They are both great movies. I just hate AG because before the movie you could buy really nice old cars for nothing. After the movie you couldn't buy a chicken coop for all the money in the world. The same thing happened to Pick-ups after Urban Cowboy.
