So O/T...kids, who has em?
So I have been wondering for some time now who has kids?? How old are they? Boys, girls, etc.. and do they share and/or do you involve them in your love of VWs and Volksrods and/or your project(s)???
I Will start (for those who don't know)....
We (bmweuro) and I have two Fantabulous critters. They are my sweet girliedos. Ivo is 10 and Emi is 7. Both are very involved with the Milkwagon, thanks to Chris' lifetime passion (ummm obsession) for VW's and my love of cars in general. They have been learning to weld and doing other misc things on the current project. Both kids especially love VW's. A good example is last month when we asked Ivo what she wanted for her 10th bday she said she wanted a VW remote control car and books. That is it. She didn't want anything else. (Man my kids rock!). We got a double cab for her that I gave a black plate to with her name on it. It was so cool when she opened it and saw her name she said, "cool mom you pinstriped it for me!". On the other hand Emi is more into doing the measuring and mathmatical stuff with Chris. She is our little tweaker. That kid loves math. I leave her and Chris to that stuff. No thanks! lol. Anyways I could go on and on......... I would love to know who else has kids on here etc.. etc.. etc..

Re: So O/T...kids, who has em?
I have a daughter that has just turned 3, Caitlyn Marie. She likes to hang out at the shop and get dirty, she just doesn't like loud exhaust, or any exhaust, i can rev up my stock, quiet single pipe Yukon and she starts to cry. She had to sit in the Yukon while i moved my vrod, header and stinger no baffle. She loves vw's but cried when my brother started his up the other day with stock pea shooters. She used to go to the dragstrip with me and never cried or acted scared, she would even take her earplugs out and run around a have fun. i dont know what scared her to make her this way. anyone have children that dont like muffler noises. what can i do to help her, i told her bugs are supposed to be a little loud. she tells everyone that daddy's bug is her favorite, her mom has a 98 new beetle

Re: So O/T...kids, who has em?
I have a 15 yr old son. He's been around bugs forever...
When he was real young, he would get all teary eyed every time he would see me sell an old bug for a resale.
So, I was about to start parting out a 59 sunroof, and he begged me to save it for him when he was just 5 years old. So over the years I have saved lots of good stuff for it.
But! we have had an oval sunroof as our daily for over 3 years and now he is really sick of VWs...especially after a long trip to Maine in bad traffic.
He thinks he likes hot V-8s but that's because he hasn't had to fill the tank. We are trying to redo a 69 Dart 340 six-pack, 4 speed convertible......and I can just see it wrapped around a tree someday....
He still has his bug and I don't know if it will ever get used.

Re: So O/T...kids, who has em?
I have two daughters, five and two years... the five year old like to help in the garage, so she's learning which tools are which and likes to bring them to daddy. She's enamored with pink VW's that we see at shows and stuff and has a pink bug w/ flowers as her wallpaper on the computer.

10, interested, but not allowed in the garage.
To a mom and dad that have been raised with automobiles, this is painfull.

16 year old son. Loves to hang out in the garage but more into dirtbikes and motocross than bugs.
He has a nice set of metric tools that I borrow all the time.

I've got one son, Sebastian, age 6. He's got ADHD and Bi-polar disorder, so he's kind of all over the place, hard to keep his attention on anything, unless it involves "Star Wars", or videogames. He'll help us work on stuff, occasionally, usually involving bribery of some sort.

Re: So O/T...kids, who has em?
I have 3, Lexie who is almost 9 and full of attittude. She can be super sweet one minute and hell on wheels the next. I dont know if she is into VW's or not. She likes to find vw toys for me though.
Andy who is 6 almost 7. He likes to help me with what ever. You can aske the people from Steve meet. I had to swap whels and tires on my oval nad he was right there helping. I think he is going to be a good helper.
And then there is Abby, she is 2, slmost 3. She is an amazing little girl. She likes to help with everything. From housework to yardwork and everthing in between. If she spills something she is either getting the broom and dustpan or the vaccumm or the mop to clean it up. If she sees a piece of paper on the floor, she picks it up and throws it away. She is mommas little helper.

Re: So O/T...kids, who has em?
I have a son who'll be 28 in August - he has ZERO interest in cars.
The Missus has a son who'll be 40 this weekend, and a daughter who's 38 - neither of them is even close to being carcentric, either, though they at least show a polite interest in my cars.
And all of 'em have kids of their own, and none of those kids are into cars . . . it's just sad. I blame it on the liberals.

Re: So O/T...kids, who has em?
I have one each, Mike is 18 and Chrissy is 13. Both like cars, Mike is more of a Mustang guy, but he loves rods too. He tries but just doesn't have any mechanical ability. Chrissy is my little hellion, she loves VWs and wants a Type 181 one day, but if I paint the Freak hot pink like I'm planning, she says that when she's "16, you'll have to build you a new car, dad, and I'll drive this one to school." She doesn't mind getting her hands dirty as long as all the spiders are gone.
We also have Millie who is 11, Trapper and Flops who are 4. Millie is a redbone coonhound, Trapper is a lab/boxer and Flops is a bassett hound.

Kaana almost 4 and Stormi will be 1 next week! Kaana loves to ride in the VWs, but is mad that the purple notch won't be a streetcar anymore.
