Re: SCORE!!
those are pretty cool wheels but i don't think i'd run them if they used duct tape to widen them.

Re: SCORE!!
Nice score Jim! I thought you already had a pair of those. Now all you need is a nice pair of wrinkle walls and a turbo motor and put that thing together!

Re: SCORE!!
I had another set that I bought off the samba, 15" wide, but after the deal was done, money was sent off, he wanted another 80 bucks to cover additional shipping charges. I told him to get bent and give me my money back.

Re: SCORE!!
If they used a tube then the duct tape kept the rough area from hurting the tube. Darn big tube though!

Re: SCORE!!
Neat score on the wheels! Mine had tape on them as well; I pulled it off and spread some Auto Good over the rough stuff, once that cured, I put on fresh duct tape and DONE! I got the tubes and the slicks used from a local drag racer guy. When I put the tubes in I dumped tons of powder on them and inside the tires as well. I didn't want the tape sticking to anything in case it got really hot in there.

Don't worry, those adapters are just for fitting and rolling the car around until I get some early drums.

Re: SCORE!!
The duct tape is to "seal" pinholes in the welds.
I would get the second valve stem welded closed.
Easier to balance the tires.

Re: SCORE!!
Just sold my 1965 engine from my buggy this morning to pay for my wheel widening. The guy is putting it in a 1966 bug he's restoring.

Re: SCORE!!
Not a VW – God knows I'd be in trouble if I brought another one of those home – but I scored this drum kit.
And the price?
Drum roll...
Free!
It has crappy drum heads and the symbals are crap, but I'm going to replace both eventually. Should be in it for about $90 in 3 symbals (high hat and 14" crash) and drum heads for about $140. Then it sould sound bitchen.
This kit is made in China, but oddly enough the drums are made out of maple plywood. Go figure. (typically the cheap kits are pressed board)
This was a review about the kit I found online.
"4-Piece Drum Set Quality: The drums are constructed with maple, although it looks like it was made out of cherry wood. The black finish wrap is not very good because it has a layover to it. The heads are a two-ply head made out of plastic, which makes hitting it very tricky to do. The cast cymbals I am not sure of because I think that it is made with scrap cymbals but there is no indication of that. The bass drum pedal is made entirely with aluminum but the beater slides on it's holder easily."
Anyone up for a gig this year at Steve Meet????

My brother in law's neighbor just brought us home 20 1000 round 5.65 ammo boxes thursday. He's got a few big ass cans from a gatlin gun they were testing that he's gonna bring home for me but can't remember where exactly he stashed them! One thing with TECOM being local to me, we get PLENTY of throw away crap like that that they don't even bother with DRMO.

Re: SCORE!!
I went up to the Michigan Buggy Builders Show and Swap today and managed to find two of the Hot Wheels Volksrods.
I also asked a guy about some rear wrap around Type 3 reflectors and he told me I could have them for $25.....if I took all the other Type 3 stuff that he had with him. He even threw in a plastic tote to carry it all. I ended up with:
2 decent wrap around rear reflectors and seals
1 nice early taillight assembly
1 decent early wrap-around front turn signal assembly
Pair of Squareback Pop-out windows with seals
1 fixed rear Squareback window and seal
1 German air intake bellows
1 new re-pop air intake bellows
Pair of heater system "accordian" ducts
1 windshield washer bottle

Some of it will end up on the Sled.
