The VW is way cool and its fit here...it has 3 wheels after all! It's just a bit "old news" and VW scrapped it anyway.

I'm guessing the control levers move front to back to steer.
Maybe not.Not enough clearance on front.

Maybe they twist ?

Note the "gill" (slot) under the right hand grip in this profile pic:

My guess is that there's a giant "U" shaped piece that pivots at the bottom - the individual handgrips point toward the center from each upper branch like the serifs at the top of the "U".

If I'm right, the "gill" is where the right side of the "U" handlebar will go during a right turn . . . the entire "U" thing would be used as though you were turning a 24" diameter steering wheel with your hands at the 11 and 1 o'clock positions.

Heres a mock up of a Goldwing set-up with a standard VW front end.. The mock up showed several design problems, first one is the tierods are where the feet go... It is MUCH easier to design one with higher seating..

I saw one today and got pics. It was based off of a V8 motorcycle I think. Either way it's an interesting one.

I'll post pics soon I promise.

That might be their stated reason but I'm not sure that what stopped them. The T-Rex is the same concept and its faster 0-60, has a higher top end, pulled higher G's in the corners and stops better. Not much point in VW entering into a very limited market that already has a dominent player whose current models exceed their best prototype in every way.

I'd give my left nut for a t-rex. It's not vw but its a friggin cool ride.

The VW trike was to be priced at $17000, about the same price as the new Cam Am Spider trike... the T-Rex is twice the price and more.. So the VW beats the T-Rex in one important area...$$$$$

And Piaggio has had a VERY nice and well engineered one on the market for over a year now. Dude's outta the loop.

I like this. Shoulda built one back in the seventy's. I saw the molds for sale over at reverse trike, now I know who got them. Hope everything works out for him to get these started back up. Good Luck GravGuy.

Cam Am Spider trike - glad to see another Canadian company making a cool trike but after reading the reviews and watching some vid's it seems to me that the Spider is just a cycle with training wheels. Am I missing something?

The T-Rex was ironically not able to be registered in Ontario and I had heard it was because Ontario did not reconize a 3 wheeler with 2 wheels out front. Bombardier is a big ass company though so maybe they will be able to get Ontario to lighten the hell up.

gravguy - did you have a 1st gen or the new style? I've seen 1st gen's selling around the $25 to 30 mark pretty regularly. Looking at the specs on it that makes it one of the greatest deals on wheels. Super car performance on Toyota dollars.
