Default Found a Volksrod in Palm Springs!
Re:: Dr. George Car Show

Holy shit!
I spent the day in Indian Wells attending the annual Dr. George Car Show presented by the Palm Springs Cruisin' Association and much to my surprise... a VOLKSROD!

I figured I was the only v-rodder in the Coachella Valley but I guess not. I had a small chat with the fellow (can't remember his name for the life of me, and if YOU are reading this, please forgive me...)

Without further ado, PICS

I have about 45 other pics from the show of all hot rods and kustoms if anyone is interested... please, let me know and i'll post 'em. Oh, I finally got my ass a digital camera.

Thats exaclty what I was talking about back when I was thinking about making my own extension. Before I found Tinbeater.

Must not have described it well cus no one understood what I meant. At least thats the impression I got. Either way I am happier with the Tinbeater extension and I am sure hat one is just fine. Those welds look a little rough. Not that I am a good welder but I would have hired someone to weld something like that. Obviousy they work he got the car there.

Yeah, he mentioned that all the work was performed by himself... including the extension. He had a small podium with a notebook of photographed documentation of the build but I was too jazzed about seeing another v-rod in my area.

Bill, I'd be pretty ashamed of myself if his name was Doug and I had forgotten... I think it was Matt or something? I gave him my number and volksrods user name if he wants to contact me. When I see him, I'll call him Doug to see if he corrects me. Haha.

Is it just me, or does that extension look kind of weak? It's not got any triangular bracing. Seems like everyone got all freaked out about another guy just recently pulling the same deal.

Well, there had to be hundreds of cars but I snapped some of my favorites. Unfortunately during the transferring if the photos to my computer, some of the photos (and some of the best) were corrupted so I'll post what I have left. It REALLY sucks that the photos of the DeLorean I took didn't work .

Here we go...

My dad has a restored '71 E-Type V12 so I took this one for him. (not his car though)

A Cobra replica with an engine that gave me a hard-on

check out the mixture controls on the side of the body!

I see this thing all the time hauling ass by my apartment and finally got a close look at it. Clean!

I'm a whore for old rat rods and hot rods but I will always have a soft spot for American Muscle

I lost some photos of the front but this was only of about 3 Rat rods that were there

This deserves a bowing guy too.

Still more to come, hang in there kids.

Yeah, that 1965aaron(sp?) guy. I thought it looked pretty questionable to me but left the idea alone since he's the one who has to deal with the strength and engineering to hold his front suspension together.

My brother, who is older than I am, had no idea what a flat head motor was. So, I took a bunch of photos to "learn him right". He's the kind of guy who drives a Porsche (he does), owns 3 or more pairs of jeans each costing over $100 bucks EACH and reads GQ... religiously...

Another fucking cool as hell rat rod.

more flatheads

Too bad that's all that was left good photos.
Next weekend I'll be attending an exotic car auction in Palm Springs and will take LOTS of photos.

Me too. But with this pic...

Only thing is, I don't want any of those cars. I want the yellow GMC tractor trailer in the back ground. There used to be one around here that was the sign for an old salvage, but it closed and the truck got crushed along with everything else.
