Default BUS vs THEM

Who knows may be a total waste ,,but figured a bus only Thread might help those who have em,find out answers and share info quicker.

Gotta 62 Walk Thru Standard myself.

Hmmm. A bus only thread. Would this also include those of us with Type 2s missing the back upper half, ie: the single and crew cabs?

here is my input, they are mostly $$ to buy, mostly hard to find good parts for and $$ to buy the parts once you find them. but i love to drive my SC.

Heres a pic of my splitty... It sat in a guys yard to protect his house (shack) from drive by shootings.. I use to belong to a local VW guy that swapped out the trans and put in a standard swingaxle and lowered the front end...Everything works altho it needs tie rods and tires and a good look at the brake system.. but man!, what a blast to drive!!

I'm IN! Finally a thread I can actually participate in LOL.

Mine's a '63 Standard NON walkthrough. Was fully restored in the late 90's, but has some problems popping through again.

Projects looming in the near future;

Install 944 brake system.

Freeway flyer (likely) IRS tranny and dropped front spindles.

Install some 'goodies' I've collected over the winter to renew my interest in the ol' girl.

And if I can find the right motor...

I'm with you, I love to run my `58 SC around. A while back at the local gas station, a guy with a big four by King Kong cab, or whatever they call them, had put about a hundred bucks into his saddle tanks. He asked if my truck was a Vee Dub. He noted the size of the bed and asked what kind of mileage I got. I told him about 44 mpg..I just love messing with their heads some times.

Ooh the 944 brake system! I'm running a '71 disc brake front end in my `58. Will any of the 944 stuff bolt to the spindles and be compatable with the existing discs? With the V8 I'm packing I would love to improve my braking.

Lanner is a great guy, if the answers aren't on his site give him a call he'll take the time to answer all your questions.

hmmm, ya all got splitties eh? I got a bay. It is not as cool as a splittie but It is my summertime daily driver including doing service calls. One of my jobs is I do repairs and general maintenance for the the 3 largest chains of Banks over a territory of 16 towns/cities.

It's chopped 5 inches and lowered about the same. Has a custom interior with a couple 1000 watts of stereo as well as a DVD player and a 17 LCD.

I don't have a current pic and it doesn't look quite the same anymore.
I filled some seams, removed the antennae, added Halogens with cats eyes and shades, enlarged the vent openings

roughed in. It is actually done a lot better then this pic would suggest. The dust looks like ripples at the top but its not.

I have quite a long list of things I plan on doing to it yet. Drop spindles, more guages, a switch so I can run 4 cyl temp sensors to the one Dakota Digital guage I installed, White walls, a completely different flame job, 68 MOPAR side marker lights, different tailights and front blinkers ... and a shit load more.

I'm gonna paint it including the airbrushed flame job. I've never used an airbrush but then I've never pinstriped either and I plan on doing that as well.

Here's my CrewCab. It's got flipped spindles, 944 hubs and brakes at front and also 944 trailingarms/brakes at the rear. 1303S transmission, engine from a 1969 911T. As seen in the picture it is turning into a "deluxe crewcab" with skylights and ragtop..

For more about it in this thread and in the members section.

i thought my 80's metallic hot pink and white was bad, but damn, you got the blue and pink WITH the bad ass tape stripes and what looks to be a louvered engine lid laying in the bed.

here's a close up of it~ the top might be usable if you have the mounting part, but it is bent, I'm afraid it would only take a good tug and it will break off~
