Re: Devil's Plaything...........
I would love to put a so cal kit on it but I'm way too broke. I've been out of work for 4 months with no unemployment so I'm trying to build it as cheaply as possible. So far I have about $900 tied up in the car and that includes a motor and a rebuilt trans.......... I'll clean up the rest of the beam and paint it black to match when I decide if I am going to put some adjusters in it or not.

Re: Devil's Plaything...........
Like the look. My brother did similar. Here a link to a youtube video my teenage put together. 76 beetle rodded. Excuse the rough edges in the video. It started out just shooting footage.

Re: Devil's Plaything...........
Ok I finally got my brakes finished. There all new and bled even. My dropped spindles are on now and I got some free used but decent P235/75R15 tires for the rear. These are the height I want to run so now I can finally see what the stance is. I also got my wide five aluminum wheels on the rear now that I did my conversion to eariler brake drums. The back is a little bit high still but I don't have the motor or trans in yet. Does anyone have an idea how much the rear will drop with the added weight of the motor and trans?
I'm finally starting to make some progress on this thing. Next up is the trans installation then the motor

Re: Devil's Plaything...........
Bump:
I found out today that I am not getting laid off at work...... Just getting my hours cut........ I can deal with that. So I fired up the auto insurance and took my obsession off the non op list and got it legal....... well as legal as you can be with no fenders, no wipers and open exhaust........ I have the motor and trans installed with the interior at about 90 percent complete. I've been following the "After Burn" build and I am impressed My build goal was to be $1K in out of pocket expenses (including the purchase price of the car) to have this thing on the road.......... but I kept getting these ideas popping into my head that seemed to keep driving my costs up.......... but what the hell........ I'm building my dream right? So far my build is at $2K Pictures to come next week..............

Re: Devil's Plaything...........
Not my taste but you did a damn good job on it.
I think the only thing I would change would be the radiator for one that is about 1/3 shorter.
But like I said, you did a damn good job!!!

It's not as loud as I thought it would be but it does get your attention At idle it doesn't sound like a Volkswagen at all.

Re: Devil's Plaything...........
Love the floor boards, I am doing that for mine as well. Whole car ain't my syle, but looks good man! Who cares if you dont have the cash or talent some guys here have. You built this one they way you wanted and get to roll it everyday! Better than quite a few of us can say...

Re: Devil's Plaything...........
JMO but maybe if you tried dropping the grill down between the horns and maybe redo the horns so there is a downward curve toward the front. The front has potential especially if it gets closed in.

I bought the seats used for $60..... they were out of a sandrail of some type. The gas tank was a Pomona Swapmeet special for $30 a guy built it to carry extra gas on his trailer.

Re: Devil's Plaything...........
too cool Tequillia!
My Granma lived in hesperia back in the 60s & 70s.Back then Vasquez rocks did not have grafitti. It had not ben invented yet. Dad and I lived in San Diego. I spent my summers with her as a boy & teenager. The wooden train trellis made a great backdrop for your photoshoot.
