ICE and car audio - Cut-Weld-Drive Forums

i see you all choppin' & lowering and cutting and welding but does anybody have some ICE in the bug or some Car audio??
here in Belgium wa cant cut and weld to much

and the only thing that's not (yet?) been limited is Car Audio

so when i go cruizin' it's with a skull crushing BASS in the back..

but i got a little tired of what i got so i'm gonna rebuild everything..
so tell me what you think..
here some pics

a totall view of the back

radio built in with the midspeaker down in the kickpannel and the tweeters the dash

and some junk in the trunk..

and now i kicked everything out..
even the backseat and made a new base..

and i started to build everything up..
damn that wasn't simple.. after 10hours calculating i finaly found a (very daring) shape to fit al the woofers in the back
1 cube has a 55L volume and the other 2 a 33L volume but you have to meet the highte of the windows and the woofers, the overal space in the back and the volumes the woofers needed..

so it came out as an very complicated drawing witch leaded to this;
one box installed

3 boxes installed

and now it's back to prepare the bottom witch it stands on..
but i guess thats gonna be tomorrow..
but i also discovered an other problem..

how the hel am i gonna place one 2channelamplifier, two 2channelamps, a condensator an equalizer and a fusebox/splitter in the damn trunk??

so what do you guys think

Back in the day I had 2-12"'s and a 400W Kenwood in an enclosure built in behind the seat, then 2 pair of component kenwood sets 6"s and poly tweeters in the kicks and wedges in the rear deck with the subs. They ran off of another 400W Kenwood. Everything was hidden under acoustic cloth though. Everyone in town knew it was there, but you didn't dare pimp a system like they do now if you liked your ride to be in the driveway in the morning. My shepherd kept it company most nights.. I didn't listen to all the bass shit though. Sabbath, Ozzy, Priest, Van Halen, Maiden. Fuckin car made your ears bleed. I could pop the vent windows open if it was loud enough and even better set off all the car alarms on my street.!

id say lose the spare tire and put the small stuff down there. and mount the amps flipped 90 degrees from what you have now...you could always hide some stuff under the platform as long as you leave some airflow..maybe drill a couple tasteful port holes for it and what not

Please be careful where and when you crank that thing up...Some people loose ALL control and will want to kick your ass... Its true that it can drive some truely crazy...and that makes them dangerous... Dont let your freedom to slop over on other folk`s freedom.. No to mention the new laws that can have your car impounded and huge fines.(around the Tampa Bay area)

Ever read about resonant frequency? You know high notes breaks glass. Well the "right" low notes cause a person to really lose ALL control and I don't mean to make them dangerous

that is going to be pretty impressive looking when its done.

I have a couple of 12's running off a 1000 watt D-class in a sealed inclosure in the bus. It pounds pretty good and reaches pretty deep but I'm going to tear it apart and build two tri-fold horns for the drivers. Should see a pretty substantial increase in speed and efficiency not to mention I might actually get to hear some of that low bass from inside of the vehicle.

The "brown note" is a myth debunked by the mythbusters!

They actually tried to get jamie to shit his pants with some extremely loud, extremely powerful subs and speaker setups... and varied the tone across the whole ound range.

Dunno about that, but we put all our satellites through a sonic test before they go to the shaker platform. We bombard them with enough Dbs to rattle things loose, and quite enough to make you do a lot more than crap yourself :) It simulates frequencies and amplitudes present during a launch.

there again - you won't get that kind of SPL from a car stereo, no matter how "phat" it is.

i cant put the amps under the plywood because i need room there for (you'll never guess) extra tweeters and a 2way speaker system...
i think i'm gonna build a second floor on top op the other amps to fit the thirth..

you can have rich clarity and bass without all that extra shit in your car. it gets to a point where you're not improving your system, just adding stuff. you have about a cubic yard of space in the beetle.

You could alwasy run the amps on top of the 2 at a angle. Basically inlay the top piece into the top of the side boxes and 2 more angle pieces of wood to the top of the center box. You would then inlay the amps into the top 2 angle pieces for a realy clean look. Plus all the wires could be hidden out of sight easy enough.

i own a car audio shop and i dont recognize those brands, the green sub wants me to say fusion but not sure...anyway, unless your building it to look impressive more than maximize the output of the subs, you can get real loud with a single 12 or 15, building a correct ported enclosure tuned to the resonant frequency of the vehicle will yield higher decibals but sacrifice some sound quality. i usually (depending on the driver) tune my enclosures to about 40 hz. with a 3 db gain. that way my low end frequency response is louder by double (a 3 db increase is actually considered a doubling of sound) while above the tuning frequency the enclosure has a natural rolloff to the crossover point giving it sound quality similar to that of a sealed enclosure. die hard sound quality competitors wouldnt do this becasue of the gain in the lowest regions but in a daily driven car the ears percieve it to be better and the sq competitors use rta to measure frequency response. anyway my point being that you could use a single sub and still have room for your equimpment without cramming it all in.

in probably one of the most flawed mythbusters ever. The waveform to generate an open air free standing 60hz note is close to 20 ft long, a 20hz note is almost 60ft long.

Standing 2 ft from a bank of speakers with no reflective surfaces anywhere in the vicinity didn't test anything. At 2 ft you can generate a 550hz note. You will hear deeper bass but that is sympathtic energy radiating from the waveform as it moves away from you. Certainly not the same as having that waveform move though you.

If you're installing tweeters remember they have to be directed at you. Best place for them is on the A pillars or in the dash as a second best, but either way, pointed at your face.

i've got me some supersweet tweeters..

but i'm still a little confused.. placing them in the angled board under the speakers or make some extra boxes and place them on top of the woofers..
i guess it's better for the sound but i'm afraid of how it would look... gonna need a night of sleep over that
