Re: ICE and car audio
by the way i've got some work done today...
didn't go the way i liked it, had a nice party yesterday so today started working like a die-hard with a splitting headache , then my saw gave up , continued with a smaller one, wich gave up on me to , but got it back running with some minor repairs ..
sawing this 18mm plywood with an angle left its mark on my tools
anyway got some work done and placed it all back in the bug for some more pics..
i just can't wait to it

Re: ICE and car audio
i've got some work done today
kinda like a side project..
it always troubled me a bit to show of the amps in the trunk on a car show..
if you stay by your ride it's no problem, but when you leave i like it closed but then there's not much to see anymore...
now i found me a big piece of plexi-glass so it got me "thinking"
long story short ; I DID MY FIRST VW CUTTING WORK
i think it explains itself and pictures tell more then a 1000 words (especially my crappy english)
here some pics
drawing...

first test...

and were halfway there...

so far so good..
next half will be next week, it's sunday today, been cutting for 2hours already and i don't want the neighbours to ..
greetzzzzz

Re: ICE and car audio
 It's not coming it all....
my garage aint big enough to work indoors and it's minus 5°C
i don't want to rush things and make mistakes so i'll restart when it's warmer again..
the hood is cut almost compleetly so the flames are done
but i don't know if i would cut the negative of the flames on top or just make it a straight line...
so what needs to be done;
order batteries(oddysey dry cell 2X) a little woodwork,covering,wiring,installing, testing,and
oh yes and i had an invite to put the car on "DREAMCAR INTERNATIONAL" an oltimershow were people have to pay 10 euros just to get in and see some cars .. and it's going down in may
so i'll keep you posted, just need to get a new camera cus mine is trashed..
greetzz and have a Happy Newyear

Re: ICE and car audio
here is my sub box. The PO paid a shop to do it but I ripped it apart and rebuilt it. It seems most everything on my bus was built to look at it, not actually use it.
It works real good now. I basically ripped the entire system out and redid it all and it is amazing the difference it made.

Re: ICE and car audio
little update since last pics i actually got some work done...
made a new bottom for the trunk..

and it has just enough room to fit it all..
3 amps, condensator, equalizer and a fusebox...
and i even had some topcovers done..
more work will be done this weekend if i find the time..
i want to make another tribal like this one..

i made this one for my Golf 1, and i want the same tribal to be on top of the box where the 38cm woofer sits
What ya think?
greetzz
btw; those seats look real comfy, just not a fan of the "ironing board" closet on the side..

Re: ICE and car audio
thats looking pretty crazy ass. Gonna be sweet.
The sub are Kenwood 12 inchers in a sealed box running on a Kenwood 1000 watt sub amp with out a cap on what I believe is a stock alternator.
In all fairness I doubt I ever push more then 400 watts to the subs. There is another 1000 watt amp pushing the kicker separates up front.

Re: ICE and car audio
youre not going to be happy mixing sub sizes unless you plan to cross them over at different frequencies. the smaller subs will be faster in response and the larger sub will seem sluggish ( time alignment) regardless of phase.
that cat from KY says it best... less is more. a good, built-to-spec cabinet with a single sub will yield better results than just tossing or cramming something in there.
after driving an SPL vehicle in the 90s when SPL was getting big, i was running 4 18's in a Horizon ( the REAL Dr. Crankenstein demo car) and built and tested many designs in other cars. hitting 150's that era was the shit, and 160s almost Godlike. nowadays, 150s can be common in high end single and dual sub setups, with proper planning and vehicle preparation.
after all the boom and doom, i opted for a daily with a setup that wasnt so heavy or carry for 3 city blocks as well ( low key is safer and attracts less of the wrong attention!) and ran a full Alpine type R setup from top to bottom. After that, i went with Diamond and U.S. Amps but kept the Alpine HU. Cleaner, better matched equipment will sing with ease and lessen the chances of electrical enigmas! cheers ;)

Re: ICE and car audio
like most V-rodders even this is build with the junk i had laying around, i dont try to be the best or the loudest, i just like to cruise around with "some" tunes..
i've ordered 2 batteries 3meters of cabel and some cabelshoes..
and hey it works...
i didn't have much time to keep my page updated but here is some pics of the finished YelLowBug

Re: ICE and car audio
nah just show it off a little, and enjoying it while cruizin'..
i'm not a really competitive guy,..
as long as i love it and other people say i'm crazy it works for me..
it has not been build following iasca rules and sh*t like that, 3 woofers get me in a dB-drag class with pro's with thousands of watts, so it's just you're average V-rod (build from scrap) ice system
but hey, they asked me to ride my car to the local "audio" shop to inspect it, they already saw some pics and they liked it, so it is possible they'll put it on display with professional demo-cars at their next open-shop day (or whatever you call it)
so for the ones that can't get enough -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uh_MMw7YDw

Re: ICE and car audio
Nice, clean install!
In high school I had a pair of tens in a cheap box aimed out the back window of my 74 Super, but I was too poor to afford an amp . Still, they hit like a kick in the head when I cranked the system. The Beetle is like a natural soundstage, the way sound gets directed all over the cabin... so even 300 measly watts reverberates in your nuts!
Honestly, I rarely ever turned it on. I preferred the sound of the stinger and the whistling sunroof (see my sig)

wow. I'm not normally one for big systems and body or chassis lights, but that is pretty damned sweet.
