Re:: Some more ways to piss of Purists

OK, since I posted something about Steampunk I have been getting flooded with questions about it and since this is the cutting board it makes sence that you guys would be interested in this, since everyone here like to cut shit up and make something else out of it. so here are some examples along with links to their sites.

A great site for just about anything - do a search for Steampunk on Gizmodo

The Villanizer Steampunk Guitar
Tell me a dash that looked like that wouldn't be BAD ASS!!!

OK, so I have this thing for watches this one is not Steampunk, but it's pretty damn close.

Swiss watch designer HD3's Vulcania watch is inspired by the fantastic machines of Jules Verne. The hour wheel is displayed through a lateral porthole, while the minutes are shown on a disk, like a Chadburn ship's telegraph. The power indicator is a sextant and the watch's winding mechanism can be seen underneath. The back of the watch sports a glass map of "Vulcania Island," as well as the visible watchworks beneath. Only dukes, lords and marquis need inquire about purchase, though. The site doesn't even mention the price and only 11 watches will be made

The Bi-Axial Vulcania Watch from HD3 Complication

I know it's shiny, BUT I STILL LIKE IT!!!

Why do you have to "put your two cents in,"
but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"?
Where's that extra penny going to?

Steampunk caught my eye over the summer. A friend who does movie props is into the scene and went to a Steampunk Ball when we went to GenCon (gaming convention) in August. I have been trying to collect the odd piece of costume here and there and did a sort of Steampunk Vampire Hunter for Halloween.

In the back of my head is an idea to put the shell from my oval over this old NASCAR modified chassis I have and throw in the running gear from an P/U in my father's yard. I think it would be a good basis for a Steampunk/Dieselpunk car. The straight six with some sort of crazy intake and exhaust coupled with giant tires and 30s styled body would be a cool mix.

BTW, I have alot ideas in the back of my head. Just ask LunaticMagnet, I am sure he wishes they were further back in my head.

I've been a steampunk fan for about 15 years.
The term steampunk first came up in a novel (i'll have to find it and let you know)

I have the movie "Steamboy" you should definitely pick that up. Hellboy has some pretty cool steamer stuff.
I'm actually working on some clothing art based on a name I came up with
"Wight University for Alchemy and Steam Engineering"

I like Steampunk, too. My first exposure was through the novel White Chapel Gods by S.M. Peters.
I found this figurine on Google completely by accident. It's part of an entire series called Mechtorians by an artist who calls himself Doktor A:

A Volkswagon engine (just the longblock)
Looks SteamPunk to me!
I can visualise it with brass valvecovers & a transparent distributor cap
We just gotta' come up with a SteamPunk sounding name for it!
hydrocarbon combustulation would be the process going on inside it.
How about a recipricating counterbalanced sequential combustion locomotive device.

Someone has way too much time on their hands.

I love the way it looks like a real build with plans and people standing around while they work on the car, and the Dash is off the hook. Very cool find.

I've always loved the HG wells looking stuff especially all of the Brass clockwork. i had a pair of brass welding goggle style sunglasses I wore for years that were totally steampunk inspired. I used to hang out at a nightclub in B-more back in the 80's that was steampunk style. It was built in a victorian era power station. Now it's ESPN zone, HardRock Cafe and a damn Barnes and Noble.

Volksteampunk!
