My buddy asked me to try and find a set of plans for the original Empi Sportster. It was an all metal buggy from back in the 60's sometime. His dad built one way back when and he wanted to make him another just like it as a surprise. If anyone could help with a copy of them, I'd be more than happy to compensate you for your time and materials.

Here's a couple of pics, if anyone is curious......plans were $9.95, a VW chassis with Sporster components heliarc welded in place was $295, a delux kit that required only painting, a VW engine and suspension was $895! Or you could just go down to EMPI and pick a "Flame Orange" or "Fire Engine Red" ready to drive unit for a whopping $1995. This info from a 1967 "Dune Buggies and hot VWs".

Thanks for the info guys.

That guy posted the ad after I spoke to him about them. He paid $50 for the originals so I offered him $20 plus shipping for some copies. He said he wouldn't take less than $40 for photocopies. But, he didn't just say it, he was a really rude asshole about it. So I said fuck him. I won't even give him my $20 if he reconsidered. I hope the guy chokes on his fucking plans.

hey.. I work at a comercial copy shop.. I can make both high quality copies and high quality scans.

I'm talking to the guy about buying his plans off of him.. still holding at 40.. so heres the plan

I need 5 guys at 8.00 a pop you'll get a book of the plans AND a cd of the plans burned in jpg, tiff, and pdf format so you can have your choice

the stuff has entered the public domain so it's free game like that

would you be down with that kwantum?

the 8.00 would include media rate postage

if we get more than 5 then the price will come down

Hell, yeah I would be. If there were even just 2 guys interested in it, I'd go $20 to get a set.

If you don't get bitched at at least once per project, it isn't really considered a project. :D

Add me to the list. So, what, does that make it like $2 a set? :)

I'll have to figure out shipping now... haahahah if I don't I'll be buying the plans and paying to send them out to all you guys.. I din't think there was going to be such a big response. but yeah.. it'll make the plans less than five bucks including shipping if we get a couple more... right now were at 5.72 a pop. more people in would make it less.. at some point the cost of shipping will excede the cost of the plans and cd's. :D

I just have to figure out the media rate shipping and I'll be able to let you know what the actual price is.. I'm betting shipping wont be more than a buck or two.

I just got an entire bentley manual via media mail with delivery confirmation for 2.39 shipping
