I'm new to the forum...but get a kick out of what I've seen so far. I've had many VW's...but am currently working on a '70 squareback. Just painted it 3 weeks ago...now I'm going through the process of remembering where all these parts came from. I'll attach a picture as it now sits. I've lowered the front 3 clicks. The rear is currently stock, but will be dropping very soon. I've cut out the window post to make a "Picture Window" kind of a nomad look!? Any way this is whats sucking up all of my free time at the moment. Would like to be able to make at least one show this summer...we'll keep everyone posted.
My latest chore has been making some lowbuck lowback seats for my SqBk. I really hate the look of the highback seats...Since I'm going for an older resto look...out came the sawzall and mig-welder and prest-o change-o... Actually, I'll probable catch some grief from somebody about this. But I guarentee my welds are going to be as strong as factory. I choped out the headrest section, welded in a peice of 3/4" round solid stock. Now all I need to do is get them recovered.
I got super busy with work...so the car went under the tarps for all winter. Now I back on it... here is what progress I've made this spring.
* New headliner installed
* All fuel lines replaced
* Gas tank cleaned out and sealed w/ new liner
* New Dash Pad installed
* All guages re-installed
* All lights and electrical hooked up
* New inner and outer scrapers installed
* New seat covers ordered...still waiting for them to show up
Any way as you can see I've been busy. I get some new pictures whrn the interior is finished and I'm ready to fire up the engine... I really want to be driving this thing soon!
Well here is the latest...
All trim back on, bullets and early blades back on, dash installed...new guages...new radio...carpet kit in...new seat covers have arrived, I just need to find some more time. Still need glass and rubber for the picture windows!
