Re: Today F..king Rules Thread
well bud when your ready to get the A/N fittings make a list of everything you want including any custom fabbed lines ( like I did the oil sending unit on my Galaxie) and I'll take ya to G and J in Ontario, only place I buy them anymore cheaper than summit Racing and half the cost of J&M here in town. though I would think you could get them through work REAl cheap?! and I dont know what your girls looking for work wise but these might help http://www.riverside.courts.ca.gov/jobs/index.html
wife says courts are still hiring. http://www.countyofriverside.us/work.../findajob.html

I probably won't be near to plumbing anything until sometime late 2011 at the earliest, but I'm sure we'll hang out a bit before now and then I work in public affairs too, so i don't get any cool toys or access to any good supply people, especially not at March since it's decommed..
I'll pass those links on to her, she applied to teach at UCR and they told her they won't have any openings until fall 2011, but aside from a degree in mathematics (she calls herself the smartest dumb person ever cause I guess she needs 41 credits for her Masters, and right now she has like 49 but not all of them are the ones she needs.. ) , she also has like 8 years experience as an office manager.. I'm sure she'll find something

Re: Today F..king Rules Thread
This may sound like kindergarden to most of you gearheads, but for me it's pretty major.
My wife's Lumina had the volt light come on, everything was dying. I did some research and decided to get a new alt. Crazy thing is, I decided to do it myself. Our neighbor used to work as a GM mechanic and had a voltmeter and the serp. belt tensioner tool. I went to our local FLAPS, got an alt and a new belt. 4 hours later it actually runs, the service engine soon light is off, the volt light is off and things are working! Never worked on an engine before and it was a huge learning curve.
There is a little German in it now as I lost a 13mm nut and got one from my VW pile.
But I still can't get a VW to run worth crap....

hahaha, with cars now a days, you almost have the bribe the microwave with a night in the closet with the toaster in order to get the microwave to convince the blender to help translate between the flux capacitor and the computer that monitors muffler bearings because those two know who the conspiritors are lighting up all the new fangled icons on the dashboard!! ;)

Well crap, if I knew that, the microwave was next to the blender and I could have had it fixed sooner!

Re: Today F..king Rules Thread
Wooo Hooo I got a new job.. No more putting up with the assholes I work for and doing the jobs of 4 people. Got the call tonight that I got the job at a local sign shop that also does pinstriping, custom paint work, hot rods and choppers. Most of his paint work has been featured in multiple magazines. Plus he told me that when ever I want to work on something of my own I can bring it in and use all the tools, garage and paint booth. Plus my coworker is a friend of mine that is a tattoo artist so I can finally get all my shit finished... I am BEYOND excited

Re: Today F..king Rules Thread
PPE offered me two bugs... for free! The only catch? I gotta figure out how to get them home... about a hundred mile trip. I don't have a car trailer or anything, so the prospects of finally having a veedub again were looking pretty slim... that is until Freq2002 stepped up!
Seriously major props to Freq2002 for giving me a towbar to help fetch my cars! Did you catch that? He GAVE me a towbar!
If we meet up at a show sometime the beer is on me! Ruler!
...now I need to get off my dead butt and go on an adventure run! Gosh, 91 miles with old tires and a tow bar... don't worry, I'll make sure to have a camera with me! The girl (that's what I call my daughter) is super excited to have a bug of her own, the dang kid has more cars than I do! She's gonna earn this one though, 'cause it's her money for gas to get her car, and she's the one who's changing flats too!

Re: Today F..king Rules Thread
You know you can check those cars over for bad manners before you go towing them. I mean like check the tires over, it might be worthwhile if you absolutly had to, pull a wheel or 2 off and run to a tire store that sells used tires and buy some for el cheapo before a problem leaves you stranded on the side of the road. Or least have a couple of spare may-pops on the correct rims with you just in case. Props to Freq2002 for helpin' a brother out for sure. Sending you some luck and mojo in advance for a safe trip home, from one who's towed a few cars and trikes with a towbar recently.

Well, I went to ride today, I rode for a while, and then got stuck. The only help I had were two girls. You might be thinking that this belongs in the today sucks thread, but I have been known to make the best of a situation. I got the bike out, and there were two cute girls around me covered in mud. Southern man's dream =)

Re: Today F..king Rules Thread
Finally received the word on new job today. After many months of dealing with a workplace in steady decline (loss of benefits, low moral, etc..) I am now able to put in my two week notice tomorrow! No more helicopters, for the first time in almost 15 years (which is very bittersweet for me) but now instead I get to work on ROCKETS, yep I said rockets, and space ships.....gonna be awesome!

OT Stooopppiiiddddd Service Manager OT
Wifey calls me at work upset because her Benz won't crank is making a weird noise that only goes away when the battery is disconnected....
She calls the Benz dealer and they're like "we dunno, never heard of that before. Bring it in and we'll hook a scanner up"
I show up in the trusty Fox pull the crow bar out of the tool bag and beat the shit out of her starter. Problem solved!
Wife is happy so I'm happy even though she has decreed that my Ghia rodster is going to be Bermuda Blue. Reckon this should probably be in the Today Rules thread but I'm too lazy to scroll that far down.

I hate mechanics! I hate dealerships. I will not work at a dealership anymore
I need to invent a new name for what I do.

You should've seen the look on my wife's face when I pulled the crow bar out of the tool bag......
Yeah, stuck solenoid.
How about "Automotive problem resolution technician"?

Im a mechanic and I hate technicians. Car wont start, "lets plug a scanner to it and charge $50-$75". Simple things are over their head. Like points and carburetors. Even worked with a guy that worked on an all orignal, one owner 65 ElCamino and bitched because he had to open the door and set the choke when he started it. Some people are eat up with the dumb ass.

Re: Today F..king Rules Thread
Congratulations Mock1... be prepared to be blown away!
There's nothing quite like seeing that little one for the very first time. Our son came to us when I was 34 years old. I was with my wife in the operating room during her c-section. When they lifted my boy out my wife kept asking, "What is it? What is it?" All I could say was, "It's a baby".

Congrats Mock1...it's the greatest feeling ever...enjoy it while it lasts because it goes fast. My son told me just recently I wasn't allowed to kiss him goodbye in public anymore...none of his friends parents do that!
