Default Volksrod Daily Driver?

Is there such thing as a Volksrod daily driver?

I have a 71 standard that i plan to convert to one.

My deal is im going to convert it but keep the stock 1600 until i save up to buy a bigger engine for it, which will probably take awhile(youngster strapped with cash) so il be driving a volksrod with no muscle

I'm not sure what the style im going for is called.

But im just doing the basic for example.Pull the fenders, drop spindles, 135's up front, some big suv tires in the back etc..

Any input, or opinions feel free to let them out.

I'm new to the volksrod scene and fairly new to vw scene.

Depends on the laws in Cali as well. In some states you can't run a fenderless car.

Volksrods don't have to be fenderless. Mines fendered (PA law) and I drive mine daily for the past 2 years. I enjoy every moment!

I drove this pretty much every day for about 2 years when I had it. Obviously not in the rain, though I did get stuck in the rain a couple times. One time it started raining while I was at work, ran out and covered the seats with plastic... was still raining pretty good when it was time to go home. I was grinning like the Cheshire cat all the way home and laughing at myself. Part of it was imagining what the other drivers in their warm and dry Hondas were thinking...

NEVER got a ticket or got pulled over in the volkstruck!

If you drive it every day it's a daily driver.

I drove mine for about a year as a daily, no front fenders. only got hassled once for not having fenders, but at the same time he complained my exhaust was too loud and didn't say anything about the obvious stench of Jack Daniels...

Once I get my motor running reliably again I plan on driving it a lot more.

if you goto DMV's website and search the California Vehicle Code, you'll find that cars weighing equal to or less than 1500lbs stock and first registered prior to January 1971 are exempt from fender laws, fenders are optional for them.

go bookmark the vehicle code, I keep printouts of important things like that so I don't have to fight a ticket I can just hand it to the officer before they write the ticket..

I drive mine daily but havent lately because of a lot of rain and the salt on the roads makes a big mess without fenders. As long as you dont show yer ass behind the wheel you will be less likely to be pulled over.

making ours a daily is our ultimate goal. i am hoping to learn enuff and teach the boys so that we can just be able to keep it up and on the road all the time. in SA the weathers gonna make it hard maybe 30 days out of the year. also hoping the ride will get the guys in good with the ladies in high school. i wish i had some.

disk breaks on the front atleast... they come wiht a drop spindle kit... and check out aircooled.net.. they have lots of really good technical information and sell some of the preformance parts... but be sure to shop around.. mid america motorworks has alot of stuff... they are also one of the most expensive places to buy things....

Lessons learned...
