Jeez, and I can remember when Jeff talked NORMAL
(just givin ya a hard time, bruddah..)
Drove the Model T, found out the only way to get the distributor cap off was to (1) raise the body, (2) move the engine forward and raise it and the trans, or (3) break the old cap, which does no good to help getting the new one on in one piece, so the firewall's back out... I told the guy i didn't think he recessed the firewall anough, and he said "sure it is" I shoulda done it myself the first time.
That Tsunami alert had us on edge, too... we are the only town in the lower 48 to ever be completely wiped out by a Tsunami, so when the sirens go off, we take heed...

Eh Dave....If I had a nickel for every time I said..."I shoulda done it myself"...sad part is it's usually when I get a 'buddy' deal.... AND I still haven't learned.

Ordered my wide white bigs-n-littles from Mike (UVT) yesterday(what a great guy!). Got my American TTD's last week. As soon as I can shake this chest cold...I'll be back on it. Next step is detail the beam, swap trannys with the 64 Rust Rat, brake hoses and in drum brake R&R, then i can slam'er back on the pan.....finish the doors, wires, fit and trim for engine and almost there...SHAKA!

Had some sunshine yesterday and a few hrs. to myself....so to celebrate my 300th post, here's a couple of pics of my VR! Bolted on Baby's new shoes...and dropped the body back down on the pan. Still need to find a suitable decklid to I can finish the rear apron mods. Lots of the 'big' stuff done....a few more to go but, the list of 'little things' is a mile long!

NOTE to Zim...I'll swap you garages any time brah!

Been spending a lot of time on my 56 sedan too....I'll have to snap some pics & throw & throw'em up here. Not a VR...old school Cal Look'ish.

Aloha

LOL Al.....yeah I see what ya' mean brah. I built most of my trike in a lean-to made of old fence sections and metal roof from an old above ground pool. Check my Zim's Garage thread later for new pics from today. Just remember if ya' lose a nut or bolt in that dirt/grass....it's gone, so buy spares or a large magnet on a string. I bet you I lost 6 generator keyways in the dirt so I bought a dozen lol.

That looks awesome! Curious as to what you have for rear drums... I see the ribs thru the wheel or is it some sort of backing plate? Couldnt tell if the fronts had it too?

The tire and wheel combo really makes the chassis come together. That is the first time I have seen a brake light mounted to a tire. It is going to be quite impressive.

Mahalos fellas!
Painter...you one funny guy.. lol! I'm still figure'en where i want the taillights...gotta do the deck lid/apron boogie 1st.
Gary, good spy! Those are actually old school wheel adapters. Crager, Superior, Cal Custom & others made'em...there's a few different versions too(how bolts line up) plus they came in Ford & Chevy to wide 5 VW. took me quite a while to assemble a complete a 4 pc. set! I bead blasted them and used VHT silver flame proof paint(per mfg's instructions) It's a ceramic type coating that should resist brake compounds and Hawaii salt air. They sure appear to be finned drums yeh?!
Kafer Dave...now you know Tony already knows I'm 1 lug nut shy...my Firebus display pretty much confirmed that! LOL!
Zim, that grass is easy! Now losing stuff in gravel......that's a P.I.A.!
Aloha!
