Default Project--Cheatin whore

No--I'm not disgruntled--Over the years I gave up cars left and right to help fund someone else's dream and desire's--You all know where that got me The one I miss the most was the dune buggy I had when I was 18. Sold it,whenever I mentioned getting another--Told "nope"--So Fast forward--Neighbor wanted a buggy, I found him one and we get it back--It's too rough for his liking, Grinder was used to remove the gell coat. So he orders a new body--Charged me $50 for this one
So far I have layed a coat of new glass over the whole body excpt the hood, repaired a few cracks and holes

Hope to kick it into high gear soon, have it done by spring and this time--Nobody here to get me to sell it

Sounds great. If you build your engine, I could come up with some engine parts, crank, rods, stock cam, generator and fan housing, generator stand, etc. Pops

I'm thinking of doing a Ford 2.3 turbo--Not sure yet, My brothers race the local dirt track and use 2.3 ford stuff--I guess it will boil down to money when the time comes I guess--I build what I can with what I can find--All I know this one will not be ratty (sorry guys), going glossy paint and all that fun stuff--Even toying with the idea of re-flaking it

Here's a body question--usually I use body filler out of the can, mix and spread it--But now I need to do the WHOLE body, all curves--I've been looking at the spray on body filler yet I have no experience with it--Anybody use it and how thick can you spray it on? I think the deepest gouge's I have are about 1/8th of an inch right now. My thoughts are I will have alot less sanding time in if I can get it on more evenly and spraying should do it.

Sounds like the sprayable filler would be the right thing for a project of that scale, although Ive done some similar sized projects with the spreadable stuff. You have to build up the sprayable stuff in layers but 1/8 should be doable.

If you decide to go with the 2.3 turbo I'll pester a friend of mine with a turbobird who is thinking about a motor swap.

If you want to look at other routes I have an adapter setup for a Toyota 3TC here, nice stout little 4 banger.

You can paint it with the flexible additive or whatever it is they use for the modern bumpers. Basically smooth it over then paint with that paint.

Need a steering wheel? I have a couple formula types laying around. Also have Turbo's glass bucket seats. Want 'em? Hmmm ... got a pair of Dano headlights, too. I gots goodies and some empty cardboard boxes. Wouldn't take much to get them down to PA. Just say the word.

3TC (and 2TC) are late 70s early 80s Toyota motors. Corrola's mostly I think and carbed. The 2 is a 1600cc and the 3 is and 1800. About 100 HP stock but alot of aftermarket support as the foreign drag guys love the motor. Can be built up to about 400hp. Dead reliable in stock form. I talked to a road racer who holed his oil pan 3 laps from the finish and just ran the motor to the checker rather than give up.

Guy with the 2.3t has it in a running car right now. Running it in a 24 Hours of Lemons turbocoupe. He's been talking about moving to a different car or going to a 5.0 so he may be looking to move it.

PM me your address again and I'll throw some stuff in a box tomorrow.
