Re: DD's 63
Thanks guys!
I've been holding on to every piece of sheet metal that has been cut off of this heap, wondering why, but now I can justify it! I'll use what's left of this hood and another to close off under the hood! More to come!

What size tires are you running in the back? They look nice, I like the hight of them.

The rear tires are G 60 15's on 8" rims. They should be mounted on 7" rims for propper fitment but I didn't want to go any larger on the diameter of a larger tire.
BTW, your build is total awesomeness!!

I like it! The center console is bad-ass.

Re: DD's 63
After 6 hrs of removing surface rust I finally have this jalopy in a coat of primer......block sanding and prepping for a coat of red. Hopefully all of this hard work pays off in the end!

Re: DD's 63
The wheels are painted in Rustoleum Gray, It should offset nicely with the red.

Re: DD's 63
I'm making some great progress with the body. The roof was in bad shape, which I thought was going to be a little wavy but has turned out to be near perfect.
The hood turned out really nice too, just nees a final blocking.
Driver side ready for a final blocking!

DD,
Don't think I've commented before, but it looks fantastic. Is that a military issue chock block you are using? heh heh heh.....
Very nice work!

Re: DD's 63
I've got a '63 too, but that project is at least two years away from even being started
My daughter and I will be starting her '63 this summer
We got it running this past weekend and she got to drive it for her VERY FIRST time! She was totaly stoked, and didn't do too bad. She definitely was not allowed out of the driveway, so we just did laps around the property (about 20 of them - in first gear).
It is totally stock right now, still 6V even. However, she wants to make some changes, nothing extreme, just a nice paint job, bigger motor and freeway flyer transmission. She wants it black with green flames and an airbrushed skull in flames shaped like a VW around it. Gotta love girls that love skulls!
So hurry up and get it painted! LOL!

Love the front bumper and console. Would like to steal those ideas for my build if you don't mind.

Re: DD's 63
I found a fiberglass "W" decklid for sale locally and I'm going to check it out. Seller wants $75 and it's never been used.
