Question thoughts/opinions......

Looking for thoughts and opinions on placement and width of the rally stripe going on the buggy. This IS NOT my buggy, but the only dead on, full frontal pic of a buggy I could find that wasn't really small or already had graphics on it.

Thoughts?

Hey it was in MS paint. Give me a brake...

I was more referring to the general overall idea, placement and such.

Actual stripe would be like these:

The general idea anyway. The nunber was kind of a thought, but probably won't be in the final design.

maybe like this:

I like it better with the number. The stripes are very Tuner, which may work well if that is what you are going for.

Yup, I tell ya wut, that there tuner look is wut I'z be aimin' fer.

Well, sort of a tuner/road rally kind of look. You gotta remember, I'll be running side pods and Fuchs wheels, little/big x narrow/wide stagger of course. On paper it all looks right. Not to over the top tuner, but still in the modern style with enough vintage flair to keep it timeless.

That's what I'm shooting for.

Help me out , I can't seem to remember. If the stripes are on the left, you are straight, and on the right, you are gay? What was the rule of thumb?

Right down the middle you go both ways? I can't remember.

The there is the other way around. I don't wanna know about that.

Then there is both.

I like the second version. Maybe move the whole thing closer to the center just a bit. That way both stripes land across the middle area before it turns back toward the fender. Make sense?

Yes, it totally makes sense. That's what I'm wanting to do, but that brings about the issue of width. I don't want them so thin they look stupid, yet I don't want them so far away from the edge of the hood (by the windshield) that they look to "out of place"....

Got it! Somewhere in there it's just going to look 'Right'. The more I look at the second version the more I like it. Both stripes together center with the steering wheel.

Hey Ray-Dean.... why dont you make some cardboard peices, a thinner one and 2 thicker ones that are long enough to ride up the hood and bend down, with a couple peices of tape on em. Then move em around, re-place, stand back and look, move em around, stand back and look, do it till you see just how you like em. Might be more effective than photoshopping from a car thats similar?

Instead of a number in a circle, how about a 'cartoon' bust of Col. Klink with his trade mark monical inside the circle? Anyone know someone into VWs that can draw a great 'Toon'?

edit: How about the number 13?

Nope. If there is a #, it has to be 64.

I'm actually going to play with different width tape to create the stripes before I shoot them. I was just looking for incite.

And as for it looking "to Tuner".....

I'm building this buggy with a Tuner theme. How else can I say it? Tuner is the look I'm going for.

Use some tape so you can move it around until you like it

I think it looks better centered with the steering wheel like the 1st pic, just make the wide one wider, and the bottom looks nice staggered like that

I like the cartoon Col. Klink idea

I think it looks like butt with a hood bump and the stripes on the side. If yours has a hood bump I would go this route:

Hey Ray, I can cut the circle and number for you in several sizes to help with the paint masking.

I don't know how to do the paint or photoshop thing but if yours has a hump in the center of the hood, I would make it a stripe with the other strip going around it and be a single strip at the nose of the hood...Make sense??

I don't think the proper term for the look is "tuner"..... nah, the way I vision it, it's more like an over grown or life size matchbox/hotwheels look
