Default White wall tyre paint

I have seen online White wall tyre paint, can this be painted onto regular tyres for a White wall look or is it not that easy?

I'm not saying this is the best way, but it is an option.

The search function turns up lot of info on this, but being across the pond, this post/thread, may help you better.

But there are many others over here that have done it, scott76 for 1, with krylon fusion~

I don't know. The Krylon Fusion paint holds up VERY well. I run my car year round through the hottest days to the ice/slush roads of PA. It still looks good to me but its WAY cheaper that ordering that tire paint. Plus you can have the tires back on your car within the same day you prep & paint them.

Take a look:

2 cans of Krylon fusion paint in hand... Going to give Scott's idea a try. first i want to smooth the slight raised lettering on the sidewalls. Better get started cause with the humidex today is going to feel like 40 C / 105 F.

I'll add pictures in a few days.

Family is back from a few days vacation and the camera has sumehow not made the 3 hour trip home... I will however say that I have had some pretty good success with the KRYLON FUSION PAINT method.

I did venture off the cleaning process buy first lightly sanding the tires lettering and my first cleaning came with a spray brake cleaner thats safe for rubber and then a warm water and scrub with a MR. CLEAN magic eraser pad.

It got the tire very clean... Follow the instructions on the can and applied 3 coats of paint very light. I'm going to let this set up and dry as the can states for 7 days, give them a second light sand with maybe a 240 grit dry sand and repeat the warm water and Mr. Clean pad.

I repeat this for cautionary measures, the brake clean i use is a RUBBER SAFE type cleaner, read the can before you decide to use it. Some contain chemicals that swell rubber...

And the first tire I am using is a spare that I had laying around, so the cleaning methods may change a bit.

I will say this The tire I am working on is inflated about 5 lbs over the suggested pressure, I'll reset the pressure and hopefully the stretch/flexability in the paint keeps the wide white from CHECKING.

I am going to try and do one more tire with just the front bead broken and see what happens when i inflate the tire. My guess is the paint will check ( crack ) when I inflate it

I'm trying this to simulate road pressure movements while you drive.

Stay tuned...

Im at that point now, here in vegas there are a ton of used tire places, to try both methods.... Im going to sand all the lettering and what ever first and use the KRYLON FUSION PAINT method......but, question. is there somethng I can spray over the tire once I paint them, too help protect them......since Im sand blasting the rims and clean them up first before I do anything with the tire,, I may try both methods to see what looks better.....as the above post was talking about tire pressure and cracking...wait, I recall a paint (now Im giving up my age) didnt JCW sell a white wall paint that was a rubber base?.......Ill look into it...

The KRYLON FUSION paint is flexible and with a stiff bias ply sidewall type tire would likely stand the test of time very well. I'm trying the overinflated radial tire method to give the paint a bit of relax to stretch out if needed. SCOTT76 has had alot of success with the paint , and like me living in a colder climate the weather has alot of temperature change that you may not see. He reports that the paint is now 2 years old and is holding its own..

As for any special treatment. I think the Mr. Clean jobby will keep the wheels lookin purdy for some time. just use a sponge to apply your tire dressings on the rest of the black to keep better control of the coverage.
