American Guns Show
Ok, i was watching American Guns last night (new episode) and they took a barrel of a Punt Gun they were building to a painter. The camera pans over to to a VolksRod!!! It was so quick, but i've seen this VR and it's build thread here on this site. It's black with some army green on the quarter panel. (if i remember there is a youtube vid of the first drive with the wife and kid in it.)
Any one else see this? or did i forget to take my meds again.

Re: American Guns Show
You may have forgotten your meds, but I just finished watching the same episode this morning, only because they were building a punt gun. Yes indeed a Volksrod made the show. Props to Palepainter for making the show and the work he did on the Barrel of the punt gun.

I'd rather have seen more of the Volksrod than that punt gun they made. I about vomited when they made him cut the stock off of the gun. Too bad the rest of the gun wasn't up to the paint job!
Punt guns were very common around here back in the market gunning days on the susquehanna Flats. I got to shoot one once. The recoil shot the boat it was attached to backwards probably 10 yards. Here's my friend Charles posing with his punt gun.

Re: American Guns Show
I would have to agree about the Punt Gun, it looked to homemade/thrown together.

Most of their "projects" like that do. Sons of Gun is even worse. The actual guns generally turn out pretty nice, even if he is raping people on the cost of most of them. I'd like to see a LOT more of the actual gun smithing featured in the show, but drama sells and I doubt the ATF actually wants too much technical info on prime time TV.

Re: American Guns Show
I was on a flight back home to Maine from North Carolina on JetBlue (free in flight tv's) and saw it on another passenger's tv about three rows ahead of me. I didn't bring any headphones, and by the time I changed to the right channel it had passed. Damn!

Re: American Guns Show
I just saw it last night. Getting a full shot and mention on a gun show speaks to how cool the car came out. Congrats on the air time and getting your name out there Palepainter.

Re: American Guns Show
Thanks guys. They had done some other filming with the car in the past summer. They were trying to talk me into a gun mounted up top. :) I have done a few episodes with them, it does not pay well, as they figure the TV time is worth the headaches.
The family gets a kick out of it though. :)

I suppose if you get enough to cover your materials and whatever work you put aside to do the job, your labor is a decent trade for that kind of national exposure, if you can make use of it. I'd imagine their projects are at least a little more interesting than your typical paid ones.
Great work and glad to see you getting noticed for your craft.

Re: American Guns Show
That is really it. I get enough to cover material costs. It is all good. There will be a few more opportunities with them this summer. I had to pass on two others as I was out of town. Who knows, maybe the volksrod will get it's own spin off show. :)
