May seem like a petty deal, but I'm going tomorrow for an entrance exam for a maintenance position at the new Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga.

I've wanted a maintenance job for a long time, got an Associates in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Industrial Maintenance for that exact reason. Pays $22/hr bottom, with a ceiling of $27/hr. Needless to say, for a single 23 year old adventurer, that's a hell of a deal.

That said, this job means a lot to me. Anything's hard to find right now, much less a great start like that.

If you folks could send some good ol' fashioned Volksrodder mojo my way, it'd be much appreciated.

Well good luck on the exam! I will be talking with them next week to see if there are any Environmental Safety/Health positions available. The Nukeworker world seems a bit saturated right now, so I must branch out.

The mojo and prayers helped a ton!!!!

The test went really well. Got hung up on some stuff in the pneumatics section, but everything else seemed to go smoothly.

My understanding is that they'll begin interviewing after they've tested the majority of the Maintenance people, which will probably be another month or so. I'm stoked, it's a super cool location and a great job.

Back in th 80's when I worked for VW, you could get company cars,(anything that they made) that were 6 months old for about 1/2 price. You just had to agree to not sell it for 6 months. I bought my son a 6 month old Rabbit in 1984 for $4550. It had 6K miles on it. I think the original sticker price was $9750. It had 300K on it when he sold it while in the Airforce years latter. pop

So after calling VW back after I posted last, they scheduled me in for the 17th. Hitting the road at 4:30 AM tomorrow.
