flat windshield frame - Cut-Weld-Drive Forums

has anybody ever tried to replace a curved windshield frame with a flat one? id have my 73 glass cut but cant find anyone that will touch it within 200 miles.plus i dont trust myself to cut it down.any suggestions?thanks

I was hesitant to cut my windshield too, but when after trying a couple of places that didn't want to do it either, I went for it. It was easier than I thought it would be. Look here:

When you call the glass companies make sure that you explain that it is the Front Windshield. Laminated glass.
Not the safety glass.
You might get better results.

Some curved w/s chops have flat glass installed(I think).

It might be easier to cut loose the bottom portion of the frame and with the right amount of darts and cuts you could straighten it out.

However it might be even easier to just stay with the stock windshield frame and glass then cut that down. Plenty of people have done it, So can you.
