transaxle identification
i have looked multiple times, i have found a couple tables that show i.d # references but nothing with my numbers...
here is the numbers:
stamped on bevel on side of transaxle: 839673
above stamped numbers forged in case :
27
113 301 103
b
any help would be appreciated... thanks..

Looked again at transaxle, NO LETTERS STAMPED, and i didn't see last number...
Numbers stamped on side are:
8396734
I,ve looked on samba but only find same info...letters at begining..

Yours is an old Type 1 swingaxle. What do you need specifically?

thanks, that helps, any info on parts. will any clutch, flywheel, motor bolt up(VW) do i need to know the year when looking for parts?
also is this a link pin front and do i need to know year for parts?

Link Pin beams are from 1965 back. Pretty much any 1960's parts will work.
1966 and earlier swingaxles were 6 volt cars and used smaller flywheels. Here is a link
with more info: 6-12 volt conversion
Virtually any aircooled motor will bolt up to your transaxle. From what I have found on the 'net there is no "for sure" way to date most older VW transaxles reliably.
