Project Cheapskate!...
this is my ...or shall i say my wifes volksrod truck!!
it's on a 67 pan and consists of a 1303 bonnet, a 50 Topolino body and a 32 Ford pick up bed...it drives and i'm just sorting the wiring (dont ask about the charging circuit!!) and it should be on the road all legal like by the end of July!!..I hope
started like this...
passenger roof on by paulatxntric, on Flickr

and is currently like this
bonnet and headlights fitted by paulatxntric, on Flickr
the seats (28 A sedan) need bolting in
wipers need putting on
steering wheel needs bolting up
wireing needs finishing
and a bit of tweeking of the engine and it should be good to go to it's MOT...tax free, insure and drive!!!
soundsa simple but it's bound not to be...and why cheapskate??
total spend so far is £580

looking at the other projects on here I am embarassed to say the alternative name for cheapskate is "the pop rivit special".....OK my welding is of a point and hope level but i get by...welding this body though was just not ever gona happen ....60 odd year old Italian steel just don't wana know...its made from dog poo and brass buttons (actually it's mainly re-cycled war surpless) even at the lowest settings it blows holes in it and if you get a decent weld i won't penetrate...
and while I'm whinging ...... I fabricate a frame for the inside of the body, suare to the body....the frame is then bolted to the pan...square to the pan...the body is then over an inch further forward on the left hand side..this I discover after I have got the pick up bed frame welded up to the body frame and the bed sides bonded on and glassed in to the rear of the body...how the fuck did that happen..pulling the body back then twisted the pick up bed so it's now not quite square and level with the rest of the body...Fuck it it'll do!!
