I need some disc brake clarification
Are the stock Ghia spindles what everyone uses to put on disc brakes?

Re: I need some disc brake clarification
Yes, that's what most of them are or are based on.

Re: I need some disc brake clarification
Being that I'm a mechanic I figured I could piece together a kit with off the shelf parts from my local parts house.

Yep. That's how it was done before conversion kits. or you can but the kit with the bolt on brackets and no spindle swap is required unless you also want lowered spindles.

Re: I need some disc brake clarification
I have brackets that bolt onto the spindles where the drum brake backing plates go, then the calipers bolt to that bracket, but if you already have Ghia spindles with the caliper mounts then your set
The brackets have about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch off set so it all fits the rotors, making the brackets isn't that tough as long as you have the equipment to do it, much cheaper than a set of Ghia spindles, but that's only because I have more time than money

I try to limit my brake usage as much as possible, that way when the need to stop in a hurry comes around, I can count on them to work
