Default Volksrod Hood Ornament AUCTION

OK, here are a few pics of #46

A shot of a little overzealous grinding when the flashing was removed

It still has the cast/ sanded finish

I gave it to a buddy to polish it. He filed off some of the flashing and got a little carried away in the spot above. He never did polish it so I got it back. I really don't plan on ever using it on anything. I thought about just polishing it, blacking out the inner surfaces and displaying it with my toys. But, I'd rather see someone do something with it since it will probably sit in the box in my closet forever.

OK, read carefully. I think I paid $85 for it. here's what I will do...make offers in this thread. Anything over what I paid for it goes to Steve for the site, house remodeling, buying dog food, whatever.

Auction starting now, ending at 11:59pm EST on Friday, Jan 4, 2013. Starting bid at $85?

I'll start at an even $100.00.

BTW...I recently saw one of these on the front of a bug at the Novemberfest car show here in Austin in November. The guy that owned the car, from San Antonio, had no idea what it was or where it came from. I tried to buy it but no dice.

Right? (no pressure)
My impeccable timing & big mouth has dug quite a hole hasn't it? I'm playing my cards close to my chest as I have an EXTREMELY limited budget. Trust me, I'm watching this.

Odd, I didn't know that a Blow Up Love Doll required power and electronics.

I wonder if the one you saw was an original vw accessory one? If it was one of the 50 I did and sold through Volksrods, I am sure the owner would know where it came from.

Remember these will never be made again.....the patterns are gone...

Payment has been received. Ornament has been shipped. Donation has been made (I had to round the number...$55 didn't sound right to me).

Thanks Walter and everyone else who bid!

Oh Boy

Just got it in the mail today! I was a little worried when I heard it clanging around in the crushed box...but it was unscathed

Thanks Charlie for giving me the opportunity to grab some cool VR swag and for helping the site

Pleas pardon my excessive use if emoticons....but it seemed appropriate for the occasion

Damn! I'm glad it was unharmed. That is the original box and packaging it came in to me from John so I figured it would be fine. I insured it for $150 just in case. Thank you for helping support our favorite site. The money went for a Premium Membership here and $100 to the big red button below it. I also sent Steve a link to this thread so he would know it wasn't just from me.

Geez guys, I'm taken aback yet again...

Like I've said in my last couple posts on here, I just haven't been on here nearly as much as I've wanted to be. Honestly, it's been bugging me how much I miss being in the middle of things and all the stuff I've been missing lately. It hits me even harder when I do get a breather to get on here and see what you awesome fellas have going behind my back when I ain't even lookin'.

Charlie, thank you for putting your hood ornament up to put toward the site. And Walter, thank YOU for buying it to support this place.

You guys give me goosebumps when I see the lengths you go to support this site. I really do thank you fellas.

Oh... and Charlie & Walter... your premium memberships are on the house (nice try Charlie )

And of course... thank YOU John for making these works of art in the first place!

~Steve
