Now starting to work on enginebay and firewall. Decided to make a servicehatch from inside while I'm at it. Easiear access to startermotor and clutch adjustment, and also to enginebolts when I need to remove the engine.. :)

The enginebay starts to look like it should be.... Still just spotwelded the sheets together.

Good thing as I never throw away anything so I found the frame around the engine that I cut out of the crewcab about 7 years ago.... used that and then bent some fresh sheetmetal that I then welded around it..

Enginebay sheetmetal fully welded and ready to be fitted to the frame..

Also decided to cut up and modify the new repro tachometer as it have incorrect chromering and too large diameter compared to original speedometer... I had an old universal VDO tacho for Diesels with correct diameter and chromering to adapt the 356 repro tach into...

You wish.....

Been slow the past months.. In weekdays I only manage to squeez in max. 1 hour of garagetime between work and picking up the junior from daycare.... :)

Yesterday I hammerformed the flange that will meet the firewall.

Hopefully I get time to weld the firewall and all the sheetmetal to the frame this weekend so I can start working on the frontend and upper mounts for the Mcpherson struts...

Today I got the lower firewall and the surroundings finally welded.

The removable rear panel I will finish later when the body is back on.

So, next I started fitting in heating tubes...

As you can see the rearpanel will be removable...
So you never know what will happen in the future. It is easier to determine if a longer engine fits under the body when the body is back on it...

Yesterday the butchering of the donor frontend continued. My plans in my head have been working innthe background and now I've got it figured out... I think...

I have to use the donorcars framehead as a jig for some rustrepair too...

Now cutting is done and it is ready to soon be fitted to the front...

Finally took me the time to file down the bottompart of the custom steeringwheelhub so it fit nicely around the spokes on the old wheel.

Also found suitable clear Polyester resin to make the horn button so I finished the button. Fitted the logo into the splitbus button.

Then made a form from a spraypaint cap....
Taped the logo into the button as tight as possible...
Mixed 40g of resin that I poured into the form and kept my fingers crossed that the resin would cure...

Here finally with the form removed..

Today I sanded the front flat and sanded out the surface skin that was a bit tacky. Deeper in it was all cured..

After this I flipped it over and also mixed a small amount that I poured into the backside just for strength..
