Saw someone in the UK had done it using either custonm cut laminated glass or perpex (can't remember which) and Ford Ka fittings so iy should be possible with any sort of modern, through glass hinge and clip arrangement - should be a lot cheaper than 'classic" VW parts when you visit the a breakers yard too ...

I had a 1995 Plymouth Voyager mini van that had power rear pop out windows, I had always wondered if they would work in a Bug, I still kick myself for getting rid of that van & not keeping the rear pop out window motors & switches, maybe one day I'll find a set & see if they work

I actually had some motors and all at one time, Ron. Mine were out of a different minivan though... Think Ford. Same idea about 10 -15 years back, too

Check out Fernons build. He modified existing pop outs.
Also take a look on Facebook and go to the
Olydubs page. We have a member there (jay) who has made
His windshield , rear window and of course side windows all pop out.
This is in an oval.

The oval on Olydubs is sick. I just sent in my request to join the page.

That is VWLoosenuts build.
He has built his own safari windows for the last few years.

Here is his previous bug with the first home built safari at our clubs Donut Day...
