Pan shorted, next up I will have to shorten the main hoop as it will be welded to the torsion tube instead of the floor now. But, it is all back on property, so I can work on it again!

Made my rear roll cage mounts today. Have the notching for the torsion tube shape. Tomorrow I hope to tach them into place and then remeasure 8 times before permanently welding them in.

Sorry. Too lazy to know what to do...

Interesting project!

Going for original looks as it was or more original 356:ish?

Original 356 wheelbase is 210cm (82 1/2 inches)

I am bringing it back to the track. It originally had a pair of glass bumpers, but they died in the big wreck.

I have the part made for mounting the cage, but my welder can't do the job, so I am on hold while I generate funds again.

I'd have to have a torch. My thick metal working tools are scarce.
So, I will pinch pennies and get there. It's just time or money...

My speedster body survived the Oregon storm of the century this last weekend. Well, it rained a bunch but the wind never really hit.
My welder is here, so I am back to finishing up the cage. After a few more welds, I will post some update pictures.
As will all my projects, it is slow going, but I have move from tortoise to turtle pacing!

Well,
One step forward, 2 steps back. Measured 3 times, checked angles, and finally welded. Woot!!! Flipped the pan over on the stands, remeasured and checked angles and welded everything in. Bam?

Then... Sat the cage in place. Crap. Crappity, crap crap crap! The right front corner isn't sitting on the perch. The perch is about 1/2" back too far and 1/4" low. Check and measure. Sure enough, operator error. Now I have to cut out the front mount/perch and try again. Doh!
