From my experience. There are those who have (screwed up), and those who will. Those who claim to have never 'screwed the pooch,' have either never built anything, or are not exactly telling the truth..

I'm wondering IF I can use a hydraulic jack or ram to flex the 2" box tubing that 1/2"?

I've used a standard 'comes-with-a-car scissors jack' to do things like this. A hydraulic jack, at least mine, doesn't work well on its side.

I have borrowed a body shop hydraulic ram today. I'm hoping I can flex the mount that 1/2" out at 16" without screwing everything up. If I do, I will be starting over. It's just time and money.

I was able to flex/bend the mount the 1/2" over and 1/4" up. Tacked 3 welds on the cage base and releases all the pressure. It all held!

I never heard that saying before, I Like It

Everything works itself out in time, just go at it slowly, unless of coarse your in a hurry, then just take your time anyways

That almost reminded me of something WC Fields would say

Like his cure for insomnia..... Get plenty of sleep !

I can lay 10" of bead around each of the front mounts and 14" of bead around the rears. that should be plenty strong.

Was the original based on a tube chassis, or a VW pan ?

First chance to test fit the cage to the body to the chassis. I need to pull 1/2" from all four cage legs and the body to chassis height isn't set yet. So, the height of cage to body ratio is off a bit. But... The cage is 3" farther forward than I expected, which is good. Also, the chassis is at stock height so far.
I will mark cage position and disassemble again to do the next phase of welding.

Not as high, but it won't be as high when I'm done either.

The rear of the body will actually be 5-6" higher than in the picture and then the rear end will be lowered a couple inches until the body is 4" from the ground.

Almost the final body to pan placement. The rear will be 3" lowered into the body and the front will be 1.5" lower. Then, the entire car will still have to be lowered. Closer...

Complete hault. Cage is in, body is on. Not enough clearance from helmet to main hoop. Not race legal. Can't afford to redo this thing. Garage art now. Oigh...
