Default Inline 6
Re:: Should I ????

So now that I am driving the Buggy, I hope to go back to the Volksrod.
A friend let me know yesterday that he has an inline 6 with trans ..... well I have been wanting to build something more hot rod, non VW.
However he was telling me because he was thinking I might wanna front engine, build a frame and drop the bug body on it.
I am seriously considering it.
It would be more work but I think it could be alot more along the lines of what I have been wanting to do.

Should I ? what do you think ? I don't have a running engine for it and I would need a front end and construct a frame, get a rear end....

IMHO a six powered V-rod would be very cool! I'm thinking multiple carbs and a killer header. What make is the engine?

Consider the extra length.
What are you planning for a hood ?

Find out exactly what the motor and trans are.
An inline 6 can be a good motor.
Some are better than others.

Imagine the front of an inline 6 sticking through a VW hood, and the rad in back.

Back in the day one of my drag cars was a Fiat body shell with a Chevy 6 fitted with an Olds hydomatic. Fun as as hell, pretty fast, and looked wild. Oh yeah...I think you should do it !

There have to be tons of Jeep 4.0 engines out there. Great little engine, and 190-200hp. There was a time when you could get a Whipplecharger for them, too

I'm a Big fan of the inliners!! I've had a few, the most recent being a cammed, split headers, and Holley 4bbl in a patina'd '63 Nova Wagon with 2 spd pg trans! Awesome ride, idled like a built small block! No one believed it was just an inliner, until I popped the hood!

I say go for it!! It could look good with No hood and a '32 radiator out front, but Unkl Ian has a good vision with his idea too!

So, is it started yet?

It would be adding an additional element to a car thats been in limbo for way to long.
Having to build a frame and also the front suspension. Right now I have pretty much everything to the car as beetle Volksrod, however in Hotrod form I would need to do plenty more work and get some additional parts...
My friends are trying to talk me into a jacked up Mad max version.

Could be cool as hell though.

You have worked on the car 2 hours in the last 10 years. Do you really think you're going to change direction now and build a hot rod? We're not going to live long enough for that my friend.

But, if you take all those hours and divide them by years you average, um, twelve minutes a year.

Imagine 6 straight pipes, running all the way to the back.
And a chrome rocker cover poking through the hood.
Maybe a few VW carbs, on a custom intake manifold.

Bugdust, I put it on hold for the Buggy.
So it wouldn't technically be changing direction so much as starting in a different one.

As far as hood goes, none just a grill of some sort.

I am still not sure if I am going to or not. I do have pretty much everything to build the car as is and it will go faster now with my daughter being older now. I spent most of my time being Dad and so the cars were not a priority.

Being a dad is more than a simple priority, and good on you for being a good one. Currently I'm up in my little shop. On one shelf is the wiring kit I bought six years back, which is waiting for installation in the Single Cab. Then there's the Edelbrock intake and cam kit...seven years in the boxes, I think. I've always liked the saying, "Life is what happens while you're making other plans." It certainly applies to a lot of us here.

Jon, you know I'm just screwing with you. As soon as that fourth fender shows up I can bring them by for you to look at and see if you want to take on the project.
