Pretty nice fabrication the newbie VW guys would think it's factory. Kind of very similar to an Austin Mini's back interior now.

It's just plain sheetmetal from the shelf at my previous job...

I tried to make it as original looking as possible. (compare with the pic from a real Heb below)

Finally!! It's moving after over 4 years!!

I had to bring it out in the open awhile because I'm fabricating a jig for the framehead replacement on the original -52 pan.

The body is still sitting on the -63 pan I started work on in the begining. Soon it will get back on its original pan.

Finally!! Here the replacement framehead is fitted and fixed with the jigg I made.

I have also started to fit the rearsuspension to it.

While replacing the framehead I also fitted double fuellines in stainless steel hydraulic piping.

Also welded new wheel arches on the original split 16 inch wheel centers. They now measure 6.5x16 instead of 3.00x16..

Yesterday (Sunday) evening I also finally released the body from the barn after almost 5 years of beautysleep... Sorry I've just got one picture of it for now.

I just got so exited that I forgot to take more pics.. The widened wheels fitted just perfect under the stock fenders!

I promise I'll roll it out for more pics very soon!

I deleted the wrong message...

Here it goes again:
I got the Hebsters's original 1952 chassie back together. It finally touches the ground again after over 35 years lying on the belly...

The rear 16 inch wheels in the rear look pretty OK too in my

Front wheels are slightly widened 15 inch wheels.

Here is a view from the rear. It is going slow because all the other things I have to do this summer. (Like painting the house... )

I try not to hurry with the decklid either because I only want to make one...

did the rear lid spend time as "Home Plate" in a former life? You could call the car the Baseball Heb I guess...

Well, as I have said some time ago the Hebster was a real Basketcase when I started to cut it up...

The reardecklid half on the pic is just temprorary. I use it until next weekend when I go visit the BugRun 2005 i Sweden. I will meet up with a guy there who gives me a suitable Split reardecklid for the purpose!

The square seen on the decklid is actually the pattern I'm cutting out of that one to get a suitable curved sheetmetal for making the Kdf embosment under the licenceplate... (and it is drawn upside down)

Not much but here is the cut up Split W-decklid pre-fitted.

Cuttin' up splits you know!!

I have also started to work on sheetmetal gloveboxes. I do have an original pair in cardboard and cloth too, but I think the pre-49 look is much cooler. Therefore I have also been searching for a black bakelite dashpod with black knobs. I was lucky to find one on Bug Run 2005 and also a source for the rest of the knobs in black for a reasonable price!!!

I guess it is time....

to....

dig it out from under the pile of crap in the garage. No need to dust it off as it have been covered with all kind of leftovers from the constructing and building the house...

Summer holidays are ended and most of that rained away, but we spent most of our freetime by the sea at my wife's grandparents beachhouse.

It is amazing how the fresh air makes your head spin with inspiration and ideas...
